Once your adventure in the world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo Switch begins, you will notice several areas of the island that were initially inaccessible: rivers and hills will hinder your exploration.
For the first few hours of play, the high jump pole will be your first tool, useful for crossing rivers. The staircase, on the other hand, it will be necessary to reach the elevated spaces of the island, but it will take a long time to enter your pockets. This simple guide will give you a hand to speed up the times a bit and allow you to explore to the fullest of possibilities.
The ladder is an object that you can create, but to do so you will need to unlock the recipe. Tom Nook happens to guard it jealously, the time has come to force his hand a little.
As already mentioned, to get the ladder you must first progress in the game and grow your island. This means that you will have to go from living in a tent to taking out a loan for a brick house. To do this, you will need the Nook miles, a new currency added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You will soon discover that you will be rewarded with miles for any activity you do, as well as by selling unnecessary items. At this point you will need to invite some new villagers to live on your island.
There are two ways to do this: wait for them to randomly pop up at the camp, or summon them via compatible amiibo. But the fastest way to do this is to use 2000 miles at the Nook ATM for buy a ticket and fly to a random island. You can then meet other animals and convince them to move to your island.
At this point, newcomers will need a place to live and Tom Nook will be there to help you out (it's in his best interest after all). He will offer you a recipe for the bridge construction kit which will allow you to overcome rivers without using the high jump pole.
Once the bridge is installed, Tom Nook will ask you to build three new living areas across the river and then some basic furniture for each of the new houses (six objects each). However, their manufacture will require some materials present only on the heights of the map and therefore unreachable. Tom Nook will contact you, sending instructions for creating the ladder directly to your phone. And that's how you will finally get the scale.
