Apex Legends currently has eight characters, of which six are free. Mirage and Caustic must instead be purchased with either in-game currency or real currency. Are you wondering which of the two should you buy first?
Let's see the pros and cons.
To purchase one of the two characters, no matter who he is, you will need 12,000 Tokens. You will earn them every time you level up: you can make your first purchase when you reach level 23, more or less. One way to get there first is to hit a lot of kills or win the game. Between the two, the safest method of getting a small boost is the second: the longer you survive, the more you earn. To do this, it is better to be aggressive and not passive, hoping to survive hidden who knows where.
Of the two characters, Mirage is probably the less wise choice: it has a similar role to Wraith but with less potential. Mirage Lure reveals enemies hiding around the corner or trying to snipe us from some corner, making it a good way to spot opponents. However, the lures have little intelligence and it is easy to make them go haywire thus obtaining the opposite effect: the enemy will know that you are nearby. Mirage's ultimate is more useful as it makes it invisible, spamming a bunch of baits. however it has a fairly long cooldown. If used wisely, however, it allows you to reposition itself quite well. All of Mirage's abilities play on getting in and out of combat to confuse opponents or spot them. These are skills that potentially give excellent results but to use them properly it takes a lot, a lot of practice.
Caustic, on the other hand, is a defensive character, made to attract enemies rather than go after them. One of Caustic's most insidious abilities is certainly the one that allows him to have vision through smoke. Its smoke blinds both allies and enemies but Caustic can see opponents even at great distances, albeit in the middle of the smoke. It is easy to deduce that Caustic is a character who works in preparation on the area: choose the right field, set the traps and lure the enemies and then let loose. Obviously you will need to know the maps well and prepare well with your teammates too: this is the key to winning with Caustic.
Ultimately then, if you want to try your hand at a character that you will be comfortable with in a few games, Caustic is the wisest choice. If, on the other hand, you love the challenge, Mirage is the one for you: you will have to work hard to learn how to manage it but, if you enter the mechanism, the fun will be guaranteed.
