Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Legacy of the First Blade - Dark Legacy - Review

Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Legacy of the First Blade - Dark Legacy - Review

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is probably the title that will enjoy the largest and most substantial post-launch support of the entire saga, which began years and years ago with Altair. We are still only at the second chapter of the first arc of expansions that will enrich Odyssey: Dark Legacy joins Prey, both from the first expansion pack, Legacy of the First Blade.

Taking us back to the adventures of Darius once again, Dark Legacy sets the stage for explaining how the fate of Alexios / Kassandra joins that of the ancient Assassin brotherhood or, at least, its origins.

    Ancient & Proto-Assassins

After archiving the events in Macedonia, Dark Legacy throws us back into the fight against the Ancients. These in fact will still be on the heels of Dario and his progeny (son or daughter, depending on the sex of our character). The order of the Ancients never gives up, trying to put the Persian and his family on the sidelines, so much so that the help of ours is essential who, obviously, will have to face the mysterious enemies, starting the real feud between Ancients and those who, later on, will become the Assassins.

The system in which Ubisoft will propose the hunt for the Ancients will be substantially very similar to that already introduced previously with the Sect of Cosmos. Obviously our task will be to completely dismantle the hierarchical chain of the Ancients, starting from the lowest steps and then arriving at the big shots. No real news from this point of view, as what is proposed to us is practically a reworking of elements that we had already seen and played in the past, even if under a new guise.

We return to sail the sea, seriously

Dark Legacy, from the beginning, shows itself as the natural continuation of Preda, without however giving "that I don't know what" particular. The playability has remained substantially unchanged but, compared to Preda, theand the adventures of the captain of the Adrestia will revolve more around his ship, involving us much more often in battles at sea. It will therefore be essential to be ready to face various battles in the water, taking good care of our boat.

As for the narrative plot, it is quite linear, perhaps even a little flat (albeit not to be thrown away) were it not for a nice twist that, among other things, has also already made the community discuss in depth. , creating debates and clashes. Regardless of the forced choice (we do not go into details so as not to spoil anything) it will still be interesting to see how Ubisoft will develop the events that will unleash after Dark Legacy. If we consider both the events of the main mission and the secondary assignments, this DLC will entertain us for at least seven good hours, especially if you love to play at high difficulty levels.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Legacy of the First Blade - Dark Legacy - Review

Dark Legacy, the second chapter of “Legacy of the First Blade”, represents an episode of transition. It does not add substantial news from the point of view of gameplay, if not some weapons and secondary assignments a little more detailed, and, narratively speaking, it carries out the events in a perhaps a little too simplistic way. The ending contributes above all to raising the bar, laying the foundations for a potentially very interesting and full of ideas conclusion. It will be up to Ubisoft now to try to make the most of the question marks raised to give this great little Odyssey the ending it deserves.
