Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Legacy of the First Blade - Prey - Review

Ubisoft has started the chain of DLCs for Assassin's Creed Odyssey that will follow one another in the coming months, supporting the massive post-launch contribution that the title will enjoy in the next period. The two expansions of the game will be The Legacy of the First Blade and the Destiny of Atlantis: each of these narrative arcs will be divided into episodes, which will be released each with 6 weeks of detachment from the other.

On 4 December this trend was inaugurated, with the release of Preda, the first episode of The Legacy of the First Blade.

This is the story of a very distant time ...

To start playing the story line of Preda there will be no dedicated menu: you will first have to reach chapter 7 of the title, after the events of Naxos, and have reached at least level 28. The real protagonist of this new adventure will not be the misthios with whom we will have decided to start the main quest but Dario, the warrior who in effect is the prototype of the Assassin, so much so that he even has a dedicated statue inside Ezio's house, in Montereggioni. It will all start in Macedonia, where some villages are being decimated by some strange and dark forces. Investigating them we will make the acquaintance of Darius who will firmly oppose the Persian army, who came to Greece to hunt him and other components deemed inconvenient for their ideals. The events that follow one another will lay the foundations for the first connections between Origins and Odyssey which, albeit feeble, begin to have some first contacts.

The best of the DLC, however, comes only in the final sections, especially from a narrative point of view. Here the actions that Alexios and Kassandra have carried out up to that moment are strongly questioned, so much so that we are amazed by the turn that the story takes, which turns out to be more and more intricate and full of surprises.

The gameplay of Preda will not be dissimilar to that of Odyssey: in fact, everything will be based on the system of the original title, but adding new missions, both main and secondary that will keep us busy for at least 4 hours or a little more. There will be stealth missions, field battles and naval battles, where we will have to put to the test all the techniques learned during the journey undertaken with Alexios / Kassandra.

In short, we will not find any news from this point of view, as well as real challenges within which we will have to show our degree of skill and experience that we will have put in the luggage up to that moment.

Preda, the first episode of Legacy of the First Blade, does not promise to revolutionize the game bases of Assassin's Creed Odyssey but rather to amaze the player with its narrative tricks, succeeding without a shadow of a doubt. The ending then does nothing but make us hold our breath waiting for the second episode. Basically, if you loved Assassin's Creed Odyssey and can't wait to launch yourself into new and intriguing missions that open up promising narrative implications, Preda is the DLC for you: from the premises it seems that The Legacy of the First Blade preserves some beautiful and big surprises.
