Review for Assetto Corsa Competizione. PC game, the video game came out on 29/05/2019
Assetto Corsa Competizione is, as already specified in our review of the “basic” chapter, the definitive racing game: rrealistic, full of details and certainly suitable for those who want a likely concrete experience of the world on four wheels, the result of the exceptional design and labor file work of Kunos simulations. An evolution compared to the previous chapter aimed, as the name suggests, to focus mainly on the very meaning of the races. And if last June we underlined some limits in terms of content, over time the perspective has changed: it is precisely in this air of change that today we will analyze the expansion package Intercontinental Gt Pack, available for purchase for a few days at a price of 14,99 euros.
Basically, the package will consist of four new tracks: Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, Suzuka Circuit, Laguna Seca e Mount Panorama Circuit, respectively located in South Africa, Japan, the United States and Australia. The tracks will extend the Blancpain GT World Challenge competition package, reserved only for GT3 specific cars and which is usually run in Europe but which, as evidenced by the new DLC, will add four iconic international tracks, so that the title will go de facto to us. a "taste" of every continent. Also in this case, the tracks will be reproduced to the centimeter in terms of realism and overall made aesthetically comparable, thanks to the use of LaserScan technology.
And, once again, the immense work done in this sense should be underlined: the Bathurst circuit, for example, is an example of the Carthusian "elbow grease" used in the translation of the route: each wall, including imperfections, is been reproduced, together with every depression and curve characteristic of the tough mountain circuit. The same goes for Suzuka, with Kyalami, one of the most delicious circuits in production, and Laguna Seca, a homage to the no-frills racing of the past, authentic “extras” that certainly add value to the DLC.
If we really wanted to find the canon nit, we could underline how the extreme care in the realization of the track itself was not then effectively translated to 100% in the concrete representation also of the scenographic outline to the tracks which, as for example in Bathurst, seem closer to a representation “by concepts” of the geographical place where the track is located: to call it neo would be exaggerated, but absolute purists might not appreciate it. Which, of course, does not at all undermine the overall enjoyment of the tracks from a mere mechanical point of view but, for some, it could constitute a step backwards in terms of mere “immersion”.
As if four laser-scanned paths weren't enough, the Intercontinental GT Pack of Assetto Corsa Competizione also includes more than 45 new liveries, 30 new teams and 50 new drivers, in addition to the new game modes inspired by the real competitions of the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli. The additional content was released alongside the game's 1.3 patch, which improved the title in several essential aspects. In principle, leaving out the remarkable technical characteristics that we extensively discussed in the original review of the title (and which, in all honesty, have also greatly improved compared to the previous evaluation), the Intercontinental GT Pack will offer a respectable content package and qualitatively excellent, at a not excessively high price (there are games that, at the same price, offer a single track and often of lower production quality). In short, there is nothing to complain: an unmissable additional content for Assetto Corsa fans and that, once again, confirms the stratospheric and qualitatively excellent post-launch support put in place by Kunos Simulations.
The Intercontinental GT Pack by Assetto Corsa Competizione offers four ultra-known tracks, finely detailed and reproduced to the millimeter. As if that weren't enough, at an affordable price, Kunos Simulations has added a huge batch of new liveries, drivers and teams. There is no doubt: the purchase is a must if you are passionate about the game.
