Astral Chain is one of the funniest and most underrated titles released in 2019 for the Nintendo Switch. The game developed by Platinum Games under the careful direction of Taura (famous for having also directed Nier Automata with Yoko Taro) has passed on the sly but has not failed to form its own niche of fans. This fate is fairly common for Platinum Games IPs, however Astral Chain is no longer considered as such on the development team website; instead it is listed as the sole owner of Nintendo.
Astral Chain has been Switch exclusive since its launch, however Platinum Games had expressed a desire to expand the title to other consoles in the past. Desire that is now completely unattainable as the IP is linked to Nintendo. From the director of the study comes confirmation that "The situation is as it seems" regarding Taura's latest work "Astral Chain is an - their - IP (they say Nintendo) so there are limitations on what we can say about it". Nintendo, on the other hand, has not yet announced anything about it, however this behavior is to be expected, at least until something concrete is boiling in the pot for their new IP.
