More than 10 days after the Cyberpunk 2077 case exploded, Gamestop has started worldwide to refund physical copies of the title of CD Projekt RED in PS4 and Xbox One version. Apparently, therefore, after the first announcements of readiness to reimburse which occurred a little in the wake of general protests, the Polish company has concretely followed up on what has been said, putting in place a series of agreements also with physical copy retailers.
In fact, we recall that, as we had amply documented in recent days, There were several doubts about the possibility for the owners of physical copies to obtain an easy refund, and these were initially fueled by somewhat evasive responses from some retailers. Since yesterday, however, apparently, even the international Gamestop chain has started to refund / replace copies of Cyberpunk 2077 (basic console version - ed) to customers who eventually request it.
The news was confirmed all over the world and we personally verified by replacing one of the copies owned by one of our editors.
The definitive refund of physical copies by an important chain such as Gamestop is an important signal from the editors of Cyberpunk 2077. In fact, it means that CD Projekt Red, after having agreed directly with Sony and Microsoft for the refund of digital copies, has made likewise through its distributor Bandai Namco to allow everyone to legitimately exercise their right of withdrawal. It seems almost obvious after the dust raised, but in reality it is a historical fact. Whether it is due to a paradigm shift towards users, or the fear of already threatened millionaire lawsuits, it is not known. But it is right to underline it positively, as well as remember that Cyberpunk 2077, in PC and next-gen versions, is a more than enjoyable title.
Note: Gamestop customers wishing to return Cyberpunk 2077 (console version) will still have to do so within 30 days of purchase.
