Dontnod, the developer of Life is Strange and Vampyr, recently started one fundraising campaign designed to finance a first attempt to self-publish titles on PC, console and mobile, and Tencent has made a generous and interesting offer: 36.3 million dollars, to be precise.
Tencent's move is excellent news for Dontnod, who can now aim, with his releases, also at Chinese market, a possibility made much more concrete by the purchase of this substantial minority stake.
The CEO of Dontnod Oskar Guilbert he expressed himself in this regard:
We are happy to welcome Tencent as an investor. It is a real test of trust from an online gaming leader, so frequently a proponent of winning bets and who has invested in many of the leading companies in the video game industry.
This news does not come very far from the acquisition of a stake, this time majority, of Clay Entertainment, development team behind Don't Starve.
