    E3 2019: Luigi's Mansion 3 - Tested

Luigi's Mansion represents an IP much loved and appreciated by the Nintendo community, and it is for this reason that the third chapter has been so viscerally awaited by its fans. Developed by the Next Level Games team, the same as Luigi's Mansion 2, this long-awaited third chapter of Luigi's adventures is presented at the fair in great shape where we finally got to try it. Equipped with his trusty Poltergust, our dear Luigi is ready to face ghosts again to save his friends, this time in a haunted hotel.

After a short tutorial that sees the return of the nice Polterpup, we learn that the ghost hunting follows the usual rules: blind them with the flashlight, suck them in with the Poltergust then slam them left and right until they are completely exhausted and let go of the capture. That of the slam, in addition to being a very useful option to quickly defeat ghosts and damage those nearby, is also one of the most fun and satisfying moments of the game, capable of returning a truly delicious feedback pad to the hand.

However, not all ghosts will be so easy to capture and some of them will be equipped, for example, with a shield to defend themselves from the light of the torch. In these cases it is very convenient to use a sink plunger equipped with a rope to shoot against the shield and then suck it in to literally tear it off and leave the poor spirits completely defenseless.

Luigi's Mansion 3 though is not just ghost hunting, but it is also exploration and puzzle game. Moving around the hotel requires special attention to the details of the surrounding environment in order to solve the puzzles and proceed to the next rooms. Here then Gooigil returns, directly from the second chapter, who through the pressure of the right analogue will come to Luigi's rescue to access areas inaccessible to him, crossing floors equipped with spikes or iron gratings. In addition, Gooigil is very useful for other things, such as keeping a mechanism active that keeps doors or elevators open, so as to allow Luigi to continue. Although it is not normally possible to control the two characters at the same time, this will become if a second player wants to help out by taking and connecting a joycon to the Switch.

The new version of the Poltergust, the G-00, also has a new power, that of making the invisible visible. It will be very useful not only to find secret areas, but also to move forward in the game and pass some rooms.

We also had the opportunity to test a boss fight, or a ghost knight equipped with armor that makes him immune to the power of the flashlight. However, there are times when it will be possible to blind him and use the suction cup to remove his armor and defeat him once and for all.

Through them direct from Nintendo we also know that in the game the multiplayer mode ScareScraper will make its return, or a procedural generator of areas in which 8 players will have to disinfect them in time to move on to the next ones.
