Review eFootball PES 2021 it is not easy, in front of us we find an updated version of the previous episode, sold as a stand alone product at a budget price; useful move to gain valuable time to accomplish eFootball PES 2022 with a brand new graphics engine.
The choice by Konami is to offer a complete, refined sports title, but making it clear since its announcement that the overall gaming experience would remain the same as last year's episode.

eFootball PES 2021: a simple Update?
This Season Update offers the PES community a substantial seasonal update by making, in addition to the classic leagues upgrade, improvements to the game mechanics and small refinements that make the experience more complete than the previous version.
Compared to eFootball PES 2020, this "Season Update"Offers a careful refinement of the physics of the ball, you can see more fluid and natural animations, without forgetting a greater care of the" first touch control ". If the game speed of eFootball PES 2020 was too fast for some, in PES 2021 the player can find a more reasoned experience, making the matches more tactical and less hectic. Among the refinements that can be found in this Season Update, you can see a slight improvement in set pieces, they remain the number one danger but thanks to the improvement of the AI, they are less lethal than the last edition. Slight improvements are also noted in the refereeing, not perfect but more consistent in the game sanctions.
Konami - aware of offering the community a product similar to eFootball PES 2020 - has however decided to offer a more complete product that will be sold at a competitive price.
The Konami sports title is offered at a price of € 29,99: Digital Standard Edition and € 34,99 for the digital editions Arsenal, Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester United; for those who want the physical version, the title is sold at a price of € 39,99, a very attractive price that can appeal to many. It should be considered that the overall gaming experience remains similar to eFootball PES 2020 but the improvements, albeit of a slight impact, refine some edges of the past edition.
Updates and contents
In recent years, the effort that the software house has taken to acquire new licenses is undeniable, unfortunately not everything has always gone as hoped. Dwelling on the Italian championship, the exclusive partnership between Konami and Roma is known, but Milan and Inter are no longer present in eFootball PES 2021 and with the farewell of the two Milanese teams, San Siro also leaves the hall of exceptional football. PES 2021, however, arrives on the market with a first “data pack” that completely modifies the English, Portuguese and Spanish leagues: this data pack updates the teams with their respective purchases, broadly arranging the squads. The same cannot be said for the Italian championship, however: the complete update that will fix all the squads present will arrive on 22 October, thus awaiting the closure of the transfer market, in order to offer the player a complete package in every aspect.
In terms of content, PES 2021 saw the addition of new coaches in the Master League. In addition to the coaches featured in PES 2020, in this new edition players can notice the addition of Ryan Giggs, Frank Lampard and Pep Guardiola. Apart from this small addition, the overall offer of the Master League has not changed but in addition to the Master League players can immerse themselves in building their own team with the My Club mode. The mode remains unchanged from the previous edition, except for a few extras that go to reward the owners of PES 2020: for all the players of the past edition, this new version rewards all the players with the agent "Iconic Moment".
To complete the playful offer there is UEFA Euro 2020 and the multiplayer sector. UEFA Euro 2020 already included in PES 2020, remains essentially unchanged but this mode will be updated with the start of the tournament. The multiplayer mode of PES 2021 instead presents greater stability than last year's version, small bugs and lag still remain, but the overall gaming experience is more than good.
eFootball PES 2021 Season Update does not make major changes to the graphics sector. There are small improvements to the day and night lighting, some refinements to the hair of some specific players and a particular care for the playing field and stadiums; we believe that great steps forward will be seen in the next chapter, given the potential of the new graphics engine. After we have analyzed the merits and limits of Konami's production, we must necessarily mention the horrible game commentary which, as far as the Italian one is concerned, has remained that of last year: repetitive and of low quality. This defect does not penalize the overall vote, but it is reasonable to expect from Konami a radical change in view of the next chapter.
Konami with eFootball PES 2021 has decided to present overall a title similar to the past incarnation, the defects of the title have been slightly refined, but small gaps still remain. Among the major flaws we find a defensive AI that is not always brilliant, the goalkeeper who often remains stationary in long-range shots and a greater improvement in the multiplayer component that still has too many lag.
Overall eFootball PES 2021 Season Update presents itself to the player as a refined and improved product, all packaged at a really attractive budget price. It is reasonable to expect from Konami in view of the next football chapter, clear improvements starting from the too poor commentary. Waiting for the data pack arriving on October 22nd, eFootball PES 2021 presents itself to the player as a valid and interesting title, thanks to a reasoned and more refined gameplay.
