Square Enix has recently announced the date for a new showcase dedicated to Final Fantasy XIV, an event from which we could expect great news. Over the years this vast MMORPG has been growing more and more thanks to the help of three major expansions that have dramatically increased the content available to users. This new event, currently scheduled for February 6, 2021 at our 2.30 am, it could in fact allow us to take a first look at the next expansion dedicated to this title.
We do not have certain confirmation of this but there are two important elements that suggest it; first (to a lesser extent) we have some little clues shared from the official FFXIV Twitter page which say: "We will announce some very interesting things .." and "we have something else in store for the future". Secondly if we consider the announcement dates of previous expansions (with Shadowbringers announced in November 2018, Stormblood in October 2016 and Heavensward in October 2014) we should have already seen an announcement later this month, and in all likelihood during the Fan Fest which was sadly canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, we could see this title coming to new platforms with an Xbox version, as has been discussed over the last few months, and possibly also one dedicated to PlayStation 5 (as also desired by Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of the game). Undoubtedly it will be an event that fans of the series, and in particular of Final Fantasy XIV, will absolutely not be able to miss despite the inconvenient time in our time zone. Finally, we point out that it will be possible to follow the entire event directly in Japanese or with support in English in real time.
