It's time to say goodbye to the sun not just for the winter.
Football Manager 2019 will be officially released tomorrow, November 2nd 2018, for Microsoft Windows, OS, Linux and Nintendo Switch.
We have thought for a long time which team we want to manage this year (here's a hint: they play in red and have "Dream Team" written on their chest), but we also have alternatives.
1 Sunderland
One of the most satisfying things you can do in Football Manager is to take control of a club in a downward spiral and bring it back to where it belongs.
Last year we were all busy getting Parma and Leeds back among the greats, but the club that comes to mind this season is the humble Sunderland, who starts this season in League One after years of poor managerial appointments.
2. Real Betis
After rivals Sevilla finished last season's Champions League in the quarter-finals, now it's up to Betis to find the motivation to become the best in town.
Having made the summer signings of William Carvalho and Sergio Canales, along with Takashi Inui, Pau Lopez and former Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles, Betis look like a well-made side with a decent talent base.
Getting into the top four in La Liga would be very satisfying.
3. Munich 1860
Just like Sunderland, 1860 Munich are a team in dire need of a new lease on life.
Despite the club having a huge following in Germany - ranking among the top fifteen best supported clubs in the country - the team is currently at the third tier of German football.
But before you call them “the Sunderland of German football”, remember that their city rivals are one of the biggest clubs in the world. It must hurt right?
They were in the Champions League until 2001, but for now we think their fans would simply appreciate a promotion to cheer them up.
4. Club Brugge
They may be the best club in Belgium at the moment, but mostly orphans of the national team that finished third in the World Cup over the summer.
Probably because the best Belgian players want to play in the Premier League.
But with a host of decent youngsters behind them and a move into the Champions League, turning this team into a European powerhouse while keeping their best players will be a great challenge.
5. Fulham / Wolves
We believe Wolves or Fulham will become the automatic choice for many of you up this season.
They are "hot", new to the Premier League, with money to spend and an already decent line-up to boast.
Maybe you will build a squad aimed directly at the title after selling Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon for a world record amount? Or maybe you will turn Ruben Neves into Steven Gerrard's Wolves equivalent?
There are many possibilities with two of the hottest teams right now.
6. Saint - Etienne
Far from being a 'farmers' league', Ligue 1 is full of teams we love to manage (no, really).
Monaco are always great fun, Marseille have a good player base and Lyon have one of the most exciting strikes in Europe.
But what about the most successful team of the lot?
Saint-Etienne has the most French titles, so why not add more?
Starting the season with Football Manager legends Yann M'Vila, Mathieu Debuchy and Neven Subotic alongside - along with starlet Assane Diousse - is huge potential.
7. Cagliari
Personally, the idea of coaching at the Sant'Elia Stadium - in the splendid setting of Sardinia - is what dreams are made of.
And from a footballer's point of view, playing and living in a place like Cagliari is one more reason to come to Serie A.
In the last twenty years, the club has rebounded between the top two Italian divisions, but probably abroad the islanders have become famous thanks to Bruno Alves and Marco Borriello, while the beloved Darijo Srna has left Shakhtar for Sardinia.
In perpetual limbo since the early 90s, it would be nice to see this famous and well-supported club take on the top of the Serie A team.
