Gears Tactics - Boss Guide: Corpser

Gears Tactics - Boss Guide: Corpser

The Corpser is not a new acquaintance for players who have already tried their hand in Gears of War 4. The beloved boss will also make his return in Gears Tactics, precisely at the end of Act II. There are some precautions, related to both the equipment and the strategy to be adopted, which will facilitate the clash with this huge boss, which is certainly not elementary given that it is one of the toughest battles of the entire Gears Tactics campaign.

    • Don't underestimate the skill reset

This boss fight is punitive for teams that are not developed properly. In the event that any of your members lack certain skills, consider resetting the skills. Below we indicate which are the most useful.

    • Gabe: You will need to heal yourself so you will need Stim at level 2 from the Surgeon skill tree.
    • Mikayla: You will need Chain Shot 1 or 2 from the Hunter tree.
    • Sid: his position is more flexible than the others but in this case we advise you to continue on the build of Paladin to heal the rest of the team.

The fourth component can opt for both Scout and Heavy builds. The Scout's shotgun isn't much of a match against the Corpser though. If you build towards the Commando specialty you can unlock the proximity mine, through which it will be possible to close the holes from which the enemies will spawn. The Heavy, on the other hand, will do more direct damage to the Corpser, as long as you take Heat Up and Redeploy from the left of the skill tree.

    • One of the keys will be Mikayla

With Mikayla you will have to hit the boss as many times as possible: equip her with a sniper rifle that will enhance the critical chance and critical damage. If you also have equipment with the skill to self-reload, they will also be a good advantage. The Fast Fingers ability would also be fine, which allows you to automatically reload after each defeated enemy but to have an effect you will have to give the final blow to the Locusts and then return to hit the boss. For positioning you shouldn't have any particular problems: from the center of the map you can hit anyone but make sure to put Mikayla safe when the boss is about to attack.

    • Use grenades

Advice that will apply throughout the Gears Tactics campaign: always try to have grenades at hand. These will be essential to close the pits from which the enemies will come continuously. Use them against opponents only in truly desperate cases, if you have to choose, always give priority to spawn points. If you kill a Boomer you can use his weapon to close the emergency holes but sometimes it will be better to use the blows to inflict damage on the Corpser, as this proves particularly weak to his attacks. Equip the Boomshot with Gabe or Sid to position yourself not too far from the boss and shoot him.

    • Pay attention to the priority for the targets

When the Corpser is in the defensive position, concentrate on healing the group, eliminating other enemies, reloading and relocating the team. Only dedicate yourself to the boss when he is not on the defensive, concentrating the blows on him and not on his paws. Regarding positioning, remember that the Corpser likes to attack in the center of the arena and the sides, so position the team in such a way that it only takes one move to get to safety so that you can save points that you can spend on targeting them. To favor this strategy, use Gabe's skill, Empower, to get more action points and hit the boss several times.

    • Don't aim at enemies close to the Corpser

The boss will attack without making a difference between allies and enemies: the Locusts that will place themselves near him will most likely be targeted by his shots. At intermediate difficulty, these will give him around 300 damage so adjust accordingly, saving shots and action points.

    • Health segments and attacks

The Corpser's health bar is divided into three sections: every time his health drops below these thresholds, a cutscene will start and every action the boss was about to perform will be interrupted, including attacks. In case you find yourself in complicated situations, try to pay attention to the level of health of the boss to possibly use it to your advantage, always keeping calm and cool. Gears Tactics will test you several times, from this point of view.
