Smoking Ueda, head of the team ICO, during their working period between the rows of Sony led the development of a number of projects that have become hardware pillars PlayStation. This detail brought fans of his works, immediately after Ueda's decision to depart from Sony and found the independent studio genDESIGN, to fear precisely for the future of its most iconic titles.
To allow gamers to breathe a sigh of relief was an image, published only recently by the team of Smoking Ueda. to wish everyone a good 2021. The photo would represent the four digits making up the number of the new year, each containing the image of a title, or ICO, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian.
genDESIGN he also wanted to show, through the final number 1 of the new year, a small glimpse of the new game in progress among its ranks, represented by a solitary figure leaning against a rock in what appears to be a completely desolate environment governed by nature. Of this project in particular, the independent studio has not yet wanted to announce details, except for the signature on the title: the team led by Ueda had in fact announced, at the beginning of 2020, a collaboration with Epic Games, which will fully finance the work on the next game.
The image released for the new year, representing some of the most iconic titles signed by Smoking Ueda, could therefore represent a small spoiler about what games will be coming in the near future and, therefore, also reassure about the continuation of the work of the head of genDESIGN on games developed in conjunction with Sony.
Given the lack of official announcements, however, at the moment it is necessary to take any consideration in this sense with a grain of salt, hoping that the independent studio will soon release more details or images about all its projects.
