The new map called Dragonspine will be added to Genshin Impact on December 23rd, along with update 1.2 titled The Chalk Prince and the Dragon.
From what was explained on the PlayStation blog, Dragonspine is a frozen mountain located in the south of Monstad, and is one of the most inhospitable areas in Teyvat.
The update introduces a particular game mechanic: when players reach the new area, they will see a cold bar fill up if you are not near a heat source. Once fully filled, the character will take damage.

Adventure Rank 20 or higher users will be able to participate in a winter event and meet Albedo, a new character. It will also be added with the update Ganyu, another character.
Following this update, another one will follow for version 1.3 of the free-to-play game, which will be released during February 2021 and will add the Lantern Rite event.
