With Life is Strange 2 being out for over a year (and that would be more, considering when the first episode of the season came out), fans of the series have been wondering what the future holds. Dontnod Entertainment gave birth to the first two episodes, but it seems that the franchise will no longer be under their control.
On Twitter, theinsider Emily Rogers stated that all future video game projects will be managed by Deck Nine, the studio that developed Life is Strange: Before the Storm, the prequel to the first game. According to Rogers, Square Enix and Dontnod Entertainment "split a long, long time ago."
Since Dontnod Entertainment has eyes on self-publishing and growth as a developer, it comes as no surprise that they have no plans to continue working with Square Enix. Also, fans of the series can rest easy with the handling of Deck Nine, since Before the Storm was an outstanding game in its own right.
