MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile - Review

As we all know by now, MSI is not only active in the production of excellent motherboards and video cards, but lately it is also very active in the production of peripherals related to the gaming world, such as monitors, headsets, mice and keyboards. In a short time she managed to create an entire ecosystem of peripherals, so if you are a fan of the dragon you can create your own station entirely branded MSI.

Today we are here to talk to you about MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile, RGB mechanical keyboard with multi-language layout and low profile mechanical switches, therefore lower than those we are used to seeing in other keyboards.

The package that contains within it MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile is quite minimal. The predominant color is white and on the front, in addition to the product name, we find an image of it. On the back we find all the main features, such as the type of switch, the presence of RGB LEDs and full compatibility with MSI Dragon Center. The bundle is extremely limited, in fact we find the pin to remove the key caps, a small instruction manual and two replacement key caps.

The MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile frame is made entirely of well-made plastic, except for the top, here we find a satin aluminum coating which gives it elegance and strength at the same time. The design is highly sought after and will almost certainly match any gaming station.

The keycaps, as already reiterated, are low profile, and therefore lower than the usual ones we are used to seeing on traditional gaming keyboards. The switches, as well as the key caps, are low profile and this is the first MSI keyboard to adopt this type of switch. These switches are visually different from the classic ones, but their operation is almost identical. The total travel of the switch will vary, which in this case will give 3 mm instead of 4, and the partial travel before activating the command which will be 1,5 mm instead of 1,9.

All this will result in greater speed during our gaming or writing phase which in the long run will lead to less finger fatigue, even if the force required to operate the switch is practically the same, or 60 gf. The adoption of this type of switch leads to MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile to have a very low height compared to traditional keyboards: the Keyboard will in fact only be 34 mm high.

All the key caps are removable using the pin provided in order to facilitate cleaning or replacement with customized caps, even if, given the limited diffusion of these types of buttons, these are difficult to find.

Under the key caps we find the switch and an RGB LED diode for lighting. MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile is a full key keyboard with multilingual layout, then equipped with 109 keys and numeric keypad. The multimedia keys to control the playback of our media are not dedicated and in order to use them we will have to use the FN combo and the related function key. Above the numeric keypad there are three LEDs that indicate if the Caps Lock, the scroll lock and the numeric keypad are active.

In the lower part of the keyboard we find nothing, except for the notches where we can pass the MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile cable in order to have our station as tidy as possible. Here we also find two feet that will allow us to raise the keyboard in order to have greater comfort.

The keyboard, thanks also to the use of low profile switches, has a very ergonomic design and keeps hands and wrists in a more comfortable and natural position, reducing tension and pain during long gaming sessions. In fact, we do not have any wrist rests supplied and we advise you not to use it, because you are going to nullify the ergonomics designed specifically for this design.

MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile RGB LEDs are all programmable and we can set them to our liking. We can choose between nine different effects already set, which can be selected directly from the keyboard with the appropriate combo of buttons, or through the MSI Dragon Center program we can create new effects to our liking, in order to customize the keyboard to the best and according to our tastes.

The keyboard is wired and therefore equipped with a gold-plated USB 2.0 cable. It is covered with woven nylon in order to give strength and prevent it from being damaged over time.

MSI Vigor GK 50 Low Profile seems to be a keyboard with the cards in order, but how does this design behave in everyday life? We have been testing the product for some time, have completed the entire Death Stranding campaign for PC using this keyboard, and have also written several articles. Without a shadow of a doubt we can tell you that it is a truly excellent keyboard, both in terms of design and in terms of ergonomics.

After several hours of use we did not experience any soreness in the wrists as often can happen with high profile keyboards, thanks to the painstaking work by MSI engineers. The low profile switches supplied have proved extremely fast and rapid in every situation, both in the game sessions with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and in intense writing sessions. Thanks also to the force required to activate a button, during the writing sessions we hardly found ourselves pressing more than one button at a time.

MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile - Review

MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile proved to be an excellent, versatile keyboard, with a refined design and ergonomics that is unmatched. After using it for several days and for many hours a day, the keyboard really amazed us in every respect. After long gaming sessions, the low profile switches proved to be much faster and more precise than the high profile switches, making our games even faster and more dynamic. The reduced height from the ground pier was a godsend for our wrists: after more than four hours glued to the monitor to alternate between writing and gaming sessions we did not report any type of fatigue. The switches have also proved excellent for writing long texts, you will hardly press multiple keys at the same time.

If you are a lover of low profile keyboards and do not want to give up the precision of a mechanical keyboard, MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile is right for you and you can buy it directly from the official MSI shop at the price of € 99,90.
