In Octopath Traveler both Primerose and Ophilia have the ability to recruit some NPCs they encounter on the path and then summon them into battle. Each recruitable NPC has a personal level of power and skill, and obviously the further you go, the more strong and proportionately difficult to recruit will be found.
However, there is one character who stands out above the others, hidden in plain sight under his seemingly harmless appearance: an old man who can be found at Granmasso, which is the hometown of Therion. To be exact you will find it in the lower Granmasso in the house that we indicate below:
To enter the house you will first need to get the NPC out of the way in front of the door, so you will need to be present Olberic or H'aanit to challenge him. After defeating him, you can enter and talk to the elder City dweller.
Using Alfyn or Cyrus' personal skill to obtain his personal information we come across a curiosity. Apparently the elder was previously a soldier of fortune who traveled with other "seven companions". Does it remind you of anything? It seems the description of one of the protagonists of the game in retrospect! Maybe he too was an "Octopath Traveler" in his youth. He has certainly kept himself well trained over the years.
You just have to use the skill Fascinates with Primerose to recruit the character, although it will take several attempts considering the low success rate. For this character, however, it may be worth sacrificing our reputation, and then restore it to the inn with the sound of money.
As you can see, the Elder City Dweller has a strength level of well 10. Once summoned in battle it will give the party a decidedly high help, especially during boss battles. Thanks to its area attack it is capable of wiping out any minions protecting the boss with a single hit, while its Guillotine attack will kill HP.
