Graphic adventures have always been one of the most popular and popular game genres. Although over time the genre has gradually lost popularity, especially due to the strategic domination of action games (certainly more dynamic and easier to sell), point and click have "survived" the conceptual apocalypse and continue to live (fortunately! ) of its own life, also thanks to a progressive hybridization and trespassing into other playful contexts.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, game released in 2013, it is basically a graphic adventure with action game elements. The title has been transferred to different platforms, up to the Nintendo hybrid, a version that we will analyze in this article, with a series of small innovations added to the same playful "core" of about six years ago. The game tells the story of two brothers, Naiee and Naia, who set out on a perilous journey in search of a legendary tree with immense powers., able to save their sick father.

The basic interesting feature is that we will have the ability to control both siblings, each able to perform a series of impossible tasks for the other in order to overcome the various obstacles that will arise in their path.

Naia, the eldest, will be able to perform tasks where greater "brute force" is required, while Naiee, smaller and smaller, will be able to sneak into confined areas that the older brother cannot access. The story of the game, set in a fantasy world as colorful as it is "brutal", will unfold for about five and will let us know the sad and exciting story of the two little heroes. It should be noted that each of the two protagonists will be connected to a completely different mapping and that therefore, basically, the game was conceptually designed to be faced with a local cooperative. Of course, nothing prevents a "single" player from learning the dual layout of the controls and tackling the entire campaign alone.

From a more strictly playful point of view, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is not going to be a particularly mechanically difficult game, given that in general the pace of the game will be rather soft and almost never impose frenetic sessions on the player. Between the two possible modes, the single one will certainly be the most challenging, since we will often be called upon to move the two small protagonists simultaneously. In general, as required by the genre of the title, we will spend a good chunk of time running around in almost static environments, engaged in overcoming puzzles of various kinds. Much Given the nature of the game itself, its short duration and relative simplicity, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons will not be a particularly long-lived, nor highly replayable game given the intrinsic linearity of the playful experience, made up of riddles and puzzles that will always be the same.

From a more purely technical point of view, the port of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons on Nintendo Switch is a sure success, presenting itself clean and without particularly burdensome problems, such as some shadows that disappear or are not loaded at all or our characters who, at times, do not immediately align with the "trigger" object. Whether in portable or docked mode, the game will run smoothly and without any kind of slowdown, making the gaming experience enjoyable. The Switch version will also be able to enjoy natural and obvious playability in local co-op, which automatically makes the game a "must buy" if you are passionate about the genre and have the opportunity to face the adventure with a friend.

Graphically speaking, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons turns out to be a good overall job despite its age, although not free from defects mainly inherent in the artistic direction. For example, some scenarios will be rather dry in details and chromatically cheap, as opposed to others that will be really well done and offer enchanting views. An applause must also be made with regard to the audio sector, able to effectively support each segment of the game on an emotional level.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a beautiful adventure, full of emotions and framed by a story as simple as it is profound. Conversion on Nintendo Switch, in addition, is by nature devoted to local co-op. Despite what has been said, the game is quite short and will not have a very high replay value, making it a de facto "one run game".
