In Pokémon Sun and Moon, as in many other chapters of the series, there are some creatures that require some special conditions to be evolved. Remember Machoke? It was necessary to exchange it with a friend to get Machamp. Then there was Eevee, which had to be evolved with evolutionary stones or even with a difference between day and night. And what about Snorlax, which can only be obtained by increasing Munchlax's friendship? So here is a list of the Pokémon present in the game that evolve only with particular conditions.
- Rattata: Alolan form Raticate will be obtainable by having Rattata of Alola reach level 20 during the night.
- Pikachu: Raichu Alola Form is obtainable using a Thunder Stone, as in previous generations.
- Meowth: Meowth of Alola will evolve into Persian via the friendship level.
- Graveler: As in previous generations, Alolan Graveler will evolve into Golem via trade.
- Cubone: The Marowak of Alola form will be obtained by making Cubone of Alola reach level 28 during the night.
- Exeggcute: With a Pietraforglia, Exeggcute will become Exeggutor Forma Alola.
- Yungoos: To get Gumshoos, Yungoos will need to reach level 20 during the day.
- Rockruff: Upon reaching level 25, Rockruff will become Lycanroc in its Day Form in Pokémon Sun and in its Night Form in Pokémon Moon.
- Type-Zero: Will evolve into Sylvally with a high level of friendship.
- Charjabug: Charjabug will only be able to evolve into Vikavolt if he levels up inside Poni Canyon on Poni Island.
- Crawbrawler: Carwbrawler will only be able to evolve into Crabominable by leveling up within Mount Lanakila.
- Fomantis: Lurantis will be obtained by making Fomantis reach level 34 during the day.
- Sandshrew: With a Froststone, Alolan Form Sandshrew will become Alolan Form Sandslash.
- vulpix: With a Froststone, Vulpix Alolan Form will become Ninetails Alolan Form.
- Salandit: Salandit will evolve into Salazzle at level 33, but only if the Pokémon's gender is female.
- Steene: Steene evolves into Tsareena once you get the Stomp move. Basically, he gets it at level 29.
- Magneton: Magneton will only be able to evolve into Magnezone if you level up inside Poni Canyon on Poni Island.
