Dark Souls II: Boss Guide - Ancient Dragon

Dark Souls II: Boss Guide - Ancient Dragon

Once you reach the Shrine of Dragons, you will have the opportunity to face the battle against one of the most particular bosses of Dark Souls II, Ancient Dragon. At the beginning, the huge creature will not be hostile and rather will give you a fundamental object for the purposes of the rest of the game's plot. If you attack him, however, he will turn into a boss and start the fight.

    Strategy and useful tips:

This optional Dark Souls II boss is not accessible at all, as the enemy will be able to kill you in one shot for the duration of the fight, which is why you must always be very careful with his every move. The slightest mistake will cost you your life, so be careful. As soon as the fight begins, take a good look at him: if he raises his head or retracts his front legs it means that fire is about to emerge. Immediately run under him and hit his paws. Once he has stopped attacking, move away a little and, if you see that he is about to take off, run as far away from him as possible, otherwise you will find yourself charred by his flames. When he has finished, get a little closer and, if you see him raising his head again, run under him and repeat what you did previously.

Remember one thing: no matter what armor you wear, the boss is able to oneshot you anyway, so be light and wear rings that increase the speed of stamina recovery, because you will need it. His blazes are comparable with a fire-infused Havel +5 shield or a Gyrm shield, but it still takes a lot of stamina to do so, so it's not a very convenient move, not to mention that if you have the stat below 50 you will not succeed. to save anything. You can also use Defensive Sweat to help against flare-ups but the most effective strategy is still to run away when the Elder Dragon breathes fire.

In Dark Souls II there is a way to send the Ancient Dragon into a loop and make it always perform the Frontal Blaze: as soon as the fight begins, run towards it and hit it a couple of times, after avoiding its attack. At this point, move away and stand on his left, at the height of the stone circle on the floor. Then repeat what you did previously, but placing yourself on the right. Then always do it again, changing sides each time. If you do everything correctly, the Ancient Dragon will be just a memory without too much effort. However, always be careful that it does not take off: if it does, run away as far as possible and then go back and repeat the procedure explained above.

Dark Souls II: Boss Guide - Ancient Dragon

In Dark Souls II the Ancient Dragon, in no uncertain terms, is the Boss, but more generally the most enigmatic and fascinating figure of all the imagery created by FromSoftware for its Dark Souls II. The majestic creature, located at the furthest point of the Dragon Shrine, one of the final and most important maps of the game, contains a multitude of secrets that, for the peace of all fans, will probably never be revealed. As per tradition, in fact, the truth that lies behind the primordial figure must be explored independently, tasted in small doses, based on the brief descriptions of the objects connected to it and some too “vague” dialogues. The Ancient Dragon, actually peaceful, which peacefully gives us one of the fundamental objects to continue in the adventure, in the event that we decide to face it, it would bare its enigmatic nature. Defeating him, in fact, we will not find his soul as usual, but that of "A Giant".

This, of course, immediately activated the minds of many players, already suspicious of the true nature of the Dragon. Indeed, he may actually be the same Aldia, whose experiments, carried out in his terrible Fortress, a place full of horrors of all kinds, could have led him to the realization of a real dream, transforming his own body into that of the gigantic creature. The Dragon himself speaks clearly in the plural of himself, suggesting that, behind his nature, there is much more than one can imagine. It is no mystery, then, that the corpse of what is in effect the true Ancient Dragon is located in a completely different place and, once its true soul has been recovered, it is possible to learn another notion. The Ancient Dragon was supposed to preserve the Sanctuary to the end. That Aldia has replaced being to allow the player to defeat Vendrick and fulfill your mission? We are not given to know. What is certain, however, is that the mystery that hovers around this Boss is one of the most fascinating of the whole trilogy created by Hidetaka Miyazaki, although the latter did not work on the second chapter.
