Lego Marvel Collection - Review

Review for Lego Marvel Super Heroes. Game for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Mac, | , Nintendo 3DS, iOS, Wii U, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the video game was released on 30/09/2013 The version for PlayStation 4 came out on 29/11/2013 The version for Xbox One came out on 29/11/2013

With the now imminent arrival of Avengers: Endgame, new film dedicated to the Marvel universe - which in fact will conclude the events narrated so far - the whole world has learned to greet (at least for now) Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and all the others, engaged in the last, ruthless battle against the bad. For the occasion, the gaming world also joined the celebrations, bringing to the screens Lego Marvel Collection, the complete collection of all the Lego titles dedicated to the superheroes in question.

The latter, available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which includes LEGO Marvel's Avengers, Lego Marvel Super Heroes and Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, however, proves to be more listless than one might imagine, showing the side to several basic gaps. or less obvious.

A game of heroes

The three titles included in this "special" edition are actually the same ones available on the store and in stores for some time, therefore, exempt from any type of modification and addition. We are, in essence, faced with a sort of special price (which is not that special) with which it is possible to make them your own all three, released during the current generation of consoles. It happened, for example - having already tried them in the past - to be able to even recover bailouts and progress saved in the cloud, further proof of how practically the same games as the original release are.

Having said that, however, pad in hand it is impossible not to have fun: the three productions in question - as well as all the others in the Lego line - are very pleasant, full of things to do and discover, characters to unlock and much more, for a impressive amount of content that manages to guarantee long days of fun. All this, then, seasoned with an always appreciable vein of humor that characterizes all the heroes on the field, which never hurts.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes: The First Avenger

The first of the three titles to open the package is Lego Marvel Super Heroes, originally arrived on the market in the now "distant" 2013. The game has the great merit of having opened the dance to what would later turn out to be a fairly successful saga , supported in a particular way by the freshness of an accessible and simple gameplay, but at the same time multifaceted, capable of extending their aims to explore every single skill of the various heroes present in the roster.

To face the forces of evil, led by historical villains, such as Loki, Dr. Doom and many others, the joint intervention of all the heroes will be required, whose skills, once on the field, will be fundamental and peculiar to be able to continue . Furthermore, a considerable number of extra activities are a solid support for a product, all in all laudable and inevitable for all Marvel fans.

Lego Marvel Avengers: the return of the

After just over three years, it is the moment of Lego Marvel Avengers which, unlike its predecessor, does not bring an original adventure to the screens, but a sort of videogame reinterpretation of the cinematic works dedicated to the Avengers. The title will replicate the exploits of Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and all the others engaged in the same efforts already seen in the films Marvel's The Avengers and Avenger's: Age of Ultron, and perhaps also for this reason it is less attractive than Lego Marvel Super Heroes.

It must be said that, to be out of tune, it is also an excessively similar and at times indistinguishable gameplay, in which some news would certainly have benefited - and not a little - the fate of the production.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2

Exactly one year later, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 arrives which, to the delight of many fans, picks up the story directly from the end of the events narrated in the first Super Heroes. Once again, thanks also to the collaboration with the famous cartoonist Kurt Busiek, we are faced with an original story, capable of bringing new emotions to life in totally innovative and surprising places. To sin, however, is once again the lack of desire to renew itself of the software house, now too marked and at times suffocating.

Basically, the structural changes are practically nil: the gameplay is almost always the same, and the additions always very limited. Fortunately, the addition of online multiplayer has taken care of saving the situation, which offers the possibility to face together with other players the various challenges for completists proposed by the Free Play mode, essential to complete the game 100%.

New in the Collection

As already mentioned at the beginning, this collection is limited to simply re-proposing the titles in question, with all that follows. The result that emerges is clearly of dubious level, since the titles are exactly identical to the past, without any tweaking or structural or, above all, graphics. If retouching the foundations of elements such as gameplay and level design could have turned out to be too expensive and probably avoidable work, the same cannot be said of the audiovisual rendering.

We would have liked, in this respect, to see a retouching of elements such as resolution and graphic detail in general, to justify even more the economic outlay, however not just. Lego Marvel Collection, in fact, is sold (only in digital version) at a price of € 59,99, which we feel we can define a little too high for what it offers. To sweeten (only partially) the pill we think the numerous DLCs that are distributed together with the edition. All the additional content of the three titles are present in this collection, such as the excellent additional content dedicated to the movie Avengers: Infinity War, the character of Black Panther and much more.

Lego Marvel Collection - Review

Lego Marvel Collection is a listless collection of all the chapters dedicated to Marvel superheroes released so far. We are faced with a simple collection of the three titles already available on the store, without any additions or changes on a technical and structural level. It helps, only in part, the presence of all the DLCs present in the package, but this still fails to save a mediocre and not very useful production, sold, moreover, at a very high list price (€ 59,99 ). In short: if you have already played the titles in question, our advice is to stay away from this edition, recommended only (and perhaps not even, due to the price) to those who have never had the opportunity to try the three titles in question .
