Review for Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 2. Game for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the video game was released on 08/02/2019

Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 2 has a great value, among the many it possesses. He manages to immerse you in the most complete way possible, in the shoes (dirty of mud) of a Supercross champion, intent on elbowing with the competition to be recognized as THE Supercross driver. The best ever.

Monster Energy Supercross 2, made by our local Milestone, throws us on the track without too many preambles, just a fun tutorial in which we will be able to practice the basic controls of the game, and then let us feed on the meat grinder world of offroad motorcycling.

From now on we will therefore be able to test first-hand the excellent work that has been done by the developers with regard to the "practical" part of the game, that is, driving our bike on steep tracks, both indoors and outdoors. Despite a general simplification of the controls, Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 2 still leaves a lot of room for technicalities, allowing us to be able to act freely both on the gearbox and on the clutch alone and, absolutely one of the most important components of the entire control system, of the weight distribution of the pilot, essential control to create the most performing stunts possible.

The gameplay is therefore not purely arcade, it is not super immediate so to speak, but it also does not present enormous difficulties in learning, and after only a few test runs, we will find ourselves competent enough to be able to face what awaits us "out there ".

After the initial introductory phase, in fact, we will have access to the main menu, hub from which we can also access the various customization options of our pilot. Almost totally aesthetic customization, if we remove the choice of the motorcycle manufacturer for which to start our career, but with components of all kinds (from the motorcycles to the brand of the glasses), all strictly under license, and therefore corresponding to their counterparts real. Details that, while not essential for the game, enhance the experience, especially for fans of this discipline. To all this, a strong component of customization of the bike must also be added, intended precisely as the preparation of various structures that will produce certain performances.

Once our pilot has been created, they can throw us into the fray, always taking into account, between one race and another, three fundamental characteristics that will outline the adventure of our alter ego, and which will be directly linked to our performances: Fame, Rivalry and Experience.

A high level of fame will help us, of course, to find better sponsors and contracts, which obviously means more money we can spend on our equipment and various modifications to our bike, while instead the rivalry indicator will affect the attitude that the various opposing drivers will have towards us. Finally, experience is the most obvious aspect, which however does not only indicate our skill, but also allows us to unlock various contents and options.

Various options such as the various layouts of the "Compound" a sort of test field, or free mode to say the least, where we can run around happily making absurd evolutions with our trusty bike. The career of a rider in Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 2, however, is not marked only and only by races. In the game we will also have to organize many side activities of our rider, such as the requests of the fans, activities that will have a significant impact on some of the three main characteristics we talked about a little while ago.

The most important and fun part of Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 2, always remains the one that sees us riding a powerful dirt bike (available in the 250 / 450XS categories). As already mentioned, the controls are not simulative, but neither are they pure arcade. If after a few test laps we will be able to tackle a track without crashing (too much), carry it out with style and power, maybe even triumphing (which doesn't seem like sometimes, but it helps a lot to climb the rankings!) That's all. a different kettle of fish.

The controls are very precise, as is the physics that governs our vehicle, a detail not just because, pad in hand, it gives excellent driving sensations. Unfortunately, however, the artificial intelligence that governs our opponents is not always at the top. Let's be clear, we are not talking about bots without a shred of soul that go straight as if merged on their way, but they often tend to be a bit too precise and therefore, in our opinion, unnatural. It will be really difficult to see someone make blatant mistakes during a brawl or some too risky jump. In short, there is a bit of the "error factor" missing, something that we will always have to face anyway.

Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 2 is also inclusive of a track editor that is very simple to use despite its completeness. Detail that added to the online component, gives the title an excellent longevity and playability.

Monster Energy Supercross: The Official Videogame 2 - Review

Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 2 is undoubtedly a title dedicated primarily to the "experts". The licenses, the game physics and the fun "Compound" mode will make the absolute joy of all fans of the discipline. This does not mean that the more casual player cannot find Monster Energy Supercross 2 a pleasant game, quite the contrary. But Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 2 is a game that can be fully enjoyed, and with great satisfaction, only by those who really know this discipline.
