Moon Studios: for now no projects on Ori

After the release of the beautiful Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps, nothing was known about Moon Studios' future plans, not until IGN interviewed some members of the studio.

From this interesting chat it emerged that the developers are working for the publisher Private Division on a completely new action RPG. In this regard, lead artist Daniel van Leeuwen said:

We are still in the early stages of development, but many things we have already done are very interesting

The Ori project therefore remains on the bench for now after the Will of the Wisps finale seems to close the circle satisfactorily. Interviewed in this regard, the art director Jeremy Gritton replied:

We are now focused on the new title, but we have left the door open to return to the world of Ori. We will evaluate based on whether or not there is a story that the team wants to tell.

There are a lot of possible stories. Prequels and spin offs would give us the opportunity to expand the lore and offer a new perspective.

The potential is so much; when I get some idea that I consider valid, I note it and I archive it. For now, however, we have nothing planned.

When asked about the possibility of seeing Ori translated to other media, such as a comic or an animated show, Gritton was very supportive.

Telling a story in a video game has inherent restrictions, therefore it would be very interesting to transfer Ori to other media. I think it would also be pretty simple. In terms of plot there is a lot we could explore and delve into

There is one latest spin off that the team would be happy to see even though it doesn't depend on studio choice. Given the partnership with Nintendo Switch, Ori is one of the potential new characters to join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster.

The co-founder of the studio Gennadiy Korol expressed himself in this regard

I think everyone at Moon Studios would love to see Ori in Smash; the animations and combat mechanics would go well together

In short, the only certainty about the immediate future of the series is the optimization of Ori and the Will of the Wisps for Xbox Series X, which will bring the game's framerate to 120 fps.
