Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition - Review

Contemplate it, savor it slowly, capitalize on every second spent in its presence, because this title represents the highest point ever reached by the Koei Tecmo series in the course of its existence. Far from wanting to analyze in detail what was masterfully described in the review of Nioh 2, by our excellent Salvatore Cardone, this article wants to be a brief excursus on the main differences and implementations that feed the game flow, elevating it to new life, keeping intact the sacrilegious pedigree.

Because obviously, as at the time of the original publication, in Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition utter repetition anathemas, also thanks to a level of difficulty that often has peaks upwards. Death, as usual, will always be around the corner, transforming some playful fragments into trial and error sessions of those that have not been seen since the early 90s.

Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition - Review

For everything else, well, little to dispute. Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition is in fact the most beautiful version of the creature of Team Ninja, provided as it is with any improvements published since the first publication on PlayStation 4, enriched with exclusive features that warm the heart. Obviously, all downloadable content made available up to now also stamps the attendance ticket. All the skills and possibilities to customize your gaming experience, to make it as similar as possible to your own playstyle, are re-proposed in this enriched and revised edition, together with some exclusive goodies of the Steam version, mainly attributable to new items that you can show off in game.

The story of the game always sees our beloved protagonist, Hide, involved in a complex and decidedly enjoyable plot, which tells some of the events that preceded the events depicted in Nioh. A journey that goes beyond the usual dimensional plane, allowing the possibility of investigating a cross-section of Japanese culture related to the abominations proposed by the Yokai kingdom and the loss of any connotation that can at least lead back to a normal representative of the human race.

This encyclopedic festival dedicated to the mangling of the enemy scum also consists of a whole series of graphic improvements that will delight owners of particularly performing PCs: support for 4K and 120 FPS, confirmed the possibility of fully exploiting monitors with refresh rates up to 144 Hz and full implementation of a visual mode intended for ultra widescreen. In the near future, moreover, support for DLSS technology should also be implemented, able to allow significant increases in performance at the cost of a modest reduction in image quality. As anticipated in the preview, Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition is not the title that will make your GPU happy: although it is far from evil from a purely technical point of view, this PC port certainly does not scream a miracle, thanks a cosmetics very close to that already admired on PlayStation 4.

The experience was also enriched by the full support of mouse and keyboard, with fully configurable keys at will, implementation that obviously joins the control via pad, already very solid. The responsiveness of the gameplay, also deriving from the greater fluidity of the action, improves the usability of the product, leaving the gamer unable to complain to the video game if something should go wrong, leading it over the abyss.

Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition - Review

Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition is the bignami of the hard and raw action game, a title that rewards the skills of the gamer, rewarding every effort through a cornucopia of enjoyable and stimulating content. The level of difficulty could be intimidating for some, however being discouraged by this aspect would mean missing one of the most galvanizing videogame experiences of recent years.
