    Transport Fever 2 - Beginner's Guide

Transport Fever 2, management for PC dedicated to world of transport developed by Urban Games, it can be daunting especially at the beginning, given the large amount of things to keep an eye on. We offer you a simple but useful guide especially dedicated to beginners who will help you better manage your career as a transport network engineer.

Remember to always connect the stations with the roads!

This notion, apparently simple, you will have to learn it very well and right away. Regardless of whether it is a port, an airport or a train station you will need to connect the building to a road which in turn is connected to at least one factory, farm or building in the city. Otherwise, the goods or passengers will not reach the station and your transport line will be put on hold without any particular notification from the game. Also consider that when you build a station and place it near a road, all the buildings that fall within its range will be highlighted. It will therefore be much better to first build a short stretch of road and check if the station is within reach, rather than placing the station first and then connecting it with a road.

    Not all transport requires maintenance

In Transport Fever 2, unlike other titles of the same genre, regularly resorting to mechanical repairs is quite useless. It will be enough to have a deposit to be able to buy new vehicles. The important thing will be to position the depots near the stations in such a way that your machines are as close as possible to the first stop of your transport lines. After a certain period of time, the game will warn you that the effectiveness of a particular vehicle is decreasing with a consequent increase in maintenance costs. The deposits, on the other hand, will not require any type of maintenance.

    Create proper links

Resources, freight or passengers will appear in stations if adequate connections are made. This means that you will have to understand well the supply and demand system present in Transport Fever 2. Make sure that at the destination point of your line there is a request for that specific asset that you have decided to transport. With a correct connection the stations will start filling up after about a month of playing time. If this does not happen it will mean that you have made a mistake when setting the route of your line, or that you have decided to transport a type of goods that the factory does not produce. Always check if factories or warehouses are within range of your station! As you build or click on a particular station you will see roads, buildings and other stations highlighted and this will mean that products or passengers will automatically be transported between their respective locations.

Use means of transport that have the same maximum speed

When transporting by road or rail, use machines with the same maximum speed. Trains cannot overtake other trains, so a slow locomotive preceding a fast one will create obvious slowdowns on the line resulting in a loss of money. Cars, on the other hand, at least in the current version of the game, cannot be overtaken even if the road is straight and consequently they will always travel at their maximum speed, always maintaining the same distance between them.

    The production chains

Each resource in the game will first have to reach the appropriate processing plant, then a factory for eventual assembly, and finally a city. Iron and coal, for example, will need to be transported to a steel processing factory. The steel will then have to be transported to a tool factory and the latter will then have to be transported to an industrial area of the city. It will therefore be very important to complete the production chain as, for example, the lack of supply of tools to the city will block the entire production process and therefore of transport with consequent, enormous, loss of money.

    The passengers

All cities featured in Transport Fever 2 are made up of 3 zones: residential, commercial and industrial. Each citizen will visit specific places so it won't be worth building small bus or tram connections. It will be much more effective to build a single city transport line connecting the various locations together. You will soon find that citizens will start using your vehicles on a regular basis. For example, if you are building an interurban railway, it would be advisable to place a stop near the main train station in order to increase tourists and consequently your earnings.

    Pay attention to profits

The profits from the transport lines will not simply be due to the quantity of goods transported. Speed and distance will also be crucial. A truck, which will reach your desired destination quickly, can make you more money than a train which will have a shorter distance to travel but which will also be much slower.

Evaluate all the various types of transport

In Transport Fever 2 there are various types of means of transport but keep in mind that, for short distances, road transport will be the most effective thanks to the lower maintenance costs. Rail transport, on the other hand, will be more suitable for longer journeys. Ships will also be an excellent means of transporting goods even if they are quite slow and, according to the game map, not always usable. Airplanes, on the other hand, are designed to carry passengers only and, thanks to their speed, will offer greater profits.

    Build simple, short routes

When building roads or railways, try to design the simplest and shortest routes possible. The game will always suggest you to build a straight line between the starting point and the destination and will force you to make high ramps, bridges or tunnels. To prevent all these very expensive elements we advise you to build, in sequence, short sections of the route that will save you a lot of money even if your vehicles will take longer to reach your destination. Especially in the initial stages of a mission or at the beginning of a free mode this solution can prove to be really useful.

Use the zoom to build the railway junctions

When you find yourself making railroad sidings make sure you do it with one zoom quite close. Transport Fever 2 has a tendency to create intersections instead of intersections. You will have to make big turns to avoid this and sometimes it will be easier to create the starting point of a new track starting directly from an existing one rather than starting from the end of the line and going backwards. Also pay attention to how the rail section will look when you are placing it. Always try to draw gentle curves instead of always favoring straight lines.
