Fire Emblem: Three Houses: the best characters to recruit

Fire Emblem: Three Houses: the best characters to recruit

As we mentioned in our review, in Fire Emblem: Three Houses we will have to choose one of the three houses to become the guide, but we will still be able to recruit the members of the rival classes. In our Guide to Recruitable Characters we have already explained how to do it.

There are so many characters available, however, and you may find yourself confused in choosing which ones to try to bring to your side. Considering that time in Fire Emblem: Three Houses is precious, in this guide we show you which ones we consider the best characters to recruit.

For obvious reasons, house leaders and their respective right arms do not appear in the list, as they are not recruitable. We also left out characters like Shamir and Catherine not because they are not good (indeed), but because they do not require special effort to be recruited.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses: the best characters to recruit

    BERNADETTA

Although her appearance does not inspire much confidence, Bernadetta is one of the best archers in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Indulge his propensity for archery and you won't regret it.

Her great effectiveness lies above all in the combination of her exclusive ability "Manie of persecution" which gives her a +5 to Attack if she does not have the maximum HP and her Sign which allows her to occasionally attack twice.

    PETRA

A well-balanced character with a high rate of speed and dexterity, which makes her difficult to hit and punishing in physical confrontations. Its characteristics make it particularly suitable for covering the classes of Thief / Assassin, but it is also very suitable as a Sharpshooter and Pegasus / Falcon Knight.

While she has no Signs, her unique “Hunter's Scent” ability gives her +20 TRPL if the enemy has 50% or less HP, making her a true scavenger to take out any already wounded enemy with one hit.

    FELIX

A true butcher on the battlefield, especially with a sword in his hand. Its high parameters of strength, speed and dexterity make it particularly effective in close combat, supported by its Sign which occasionally increases the power of its attacks. To get the most out of Felix do not assign him a Battalion, in this way, thanks to his exclusive ability "Lone Wolf" he will gain +5 Attack. Also try to get his Aegis Shield relic which has a chance of halving the damage taken to have a perfect front row exterminator.

The best classes for him are those related to the sword, and later in the game he will also be very effective as a Fencing Wizard, so it's definitely worth the effort to overcome his weakness in Sense.

    MERCEDES

Simply the best curator of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Her unique “Mutual Heal” Ability allows her to heal herself while healing a companion, making her less prone to being downed by enemies and removing the burden of dedicating a second healer to her. Also useful is her Token that sporadically does not make her consume magic points when using a healing.

She has a natural propensity for Faith and Reason, which makes her as useful as a support for others as well as being employed as a support mage. Let her go in her more natural career by making her a Priest and then a Bishop, to finally find yourself with a very useful Gremory.

    LEONIE

Similar to Petra, she is a well-balanced character with high Speed and Dexterity values and a decent Strength, making her a valid unit to deploy on the front line to inflict damage while avoiding enemy attacks. Just be sure to keep her close to other male characters to take advantage of her unique ability which gives her +2 Attack and -2 damage dealt by enemies.

Unlike Petra, she is more predisposed to spear, bow and riding skills, which make her well suited to archer or horse classes.

    LYSITHEA

Probably the most powerful sorceress in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. She has two Signs that occasionally increase her power of magic attacks and special moves, and to top it off she has a good increase in the Speed parameter, which can allow her to launch two magical attacks in one turn, decimating anything. within its range of action. Also very useful is her exclusive “Genius” Ability that automatically doubles the experience of Skills in battle, which will lead her to quickly learn advanced and useful spells (such as Teleportation) and unlock advanced classes.

It is also the perfect incarnation of a so-called "glass cannon", that is a unit capable of dealing very high damage, but with very low defense and HP that make it extremely vulnerable to enemy attacks. It is therefore important to never leave her unprotected or a healer, and also advance her in Faith proficiency to unlock Nosferatu with which she can attack and heal at the same time.

    HONORABLE MENTIONS

Dorothea: She is not among the most powerful wizards, but she is very eclectic and can learn useful spells such as Meteor. It is also suitable for unlocking the Dancer class. With his unique ability he heals up to 10% of the HP of nearby allies at the start of each turn.

Silvan: Very inclined to classes on horseback and flying, develops excellent command with spears and axes. Her unique ability is the same as Leonie's but with female characters.

Raphael: a perfect tank, physically resistant and powerful. Keep it away from the wizards and you'll have a powerful sharp shield to defeat the opposing vanguard.
