Kingdom Come Deliverance: A Woman's Lot - Review

The conflicting opinions that characterized the launch of Kingdom Come: Deliverance have not stopped the developers, who as promised have also made available the last of the four promised DLCs. After From the Ashes, The Amorous Adventures of Bold Sir Hans CaponBand of Bastards, Warhorse is ready to release A Woman's Lot, the latest paid DLC that puts us in the shoes of Johanka and Theresa.

    Theresa's story

The first part of the Kingdom Come Deliverance: A Woman's Lot DLC tells us about the Theresa's story, who after the events of Skalitz had taken refuge in Rattay with her uncle. From the first missions and the first dialogues we can trace the story of Theresa, who tells us from her point of view the massacre that took place in her beloved city. During our adventure with Theresa, of about 4 hours, we will be able to take on her shoes, with all the necessary gameplay changes. Unlike Henry in fact, Theresa is not a skilled fighter, cannot wear armor and cannot use heavy weapons, so it will be up to us to modulate our play style to suit the character.

In most cases it will therefore not be possible to attack our enemies directly, but we will have to act stealthily thanks to the help of a new four-legged friend. Yes, with the new DLC we will have a dog available to accompany us throughout the adventure and that will allow us to survive various dangerous moments. Our four-legged friend will always follow our instructions and will prove to be an excellent companion in the combat phases.

Our dog can indeed bite enemies to distract them and make them momentarily vulnerable so we can deal a lethal blow. In case of serious damage suffered by our dog, it could lose what is called Obedience and which corresponds todog energy. Once obedience is over, our dog will no longer be able to attack and will need to rest and eat to recover lost energy.

From the point of view of the gameplay we therefore have several new features, which if combined with excellent storytelling and art direction, make these early stages of the DLC a great addition for Kingdom Come: Deliverance fans. Unfortunately the DLC reduces the size of the map, in fact the missions related to Theresa will be relegated to Skalitz and a few other neighboring areas.

    The Madonna of Sasau

Those who played the main campaign of Kingdom Come: Deliverance will surely remember this character, one of the many to have been shocked by the events of Skalitz. This part of the DLC is the shortest, in fact we will have about 2 hours of missions that will help us to deepen the events of Johanka, which takes care of the sick at the Sasau infirmary. The narrative style remains very similar to what has been seen in previous DLCs, thanks to an excellent narrative direction and an excellent mastery of the facts.

Although with a very linear story, and without major additions from a gameplay point of view, this section of the A Woman's Lot DLC has allowed us to deepen the stories of another character who revolves around Henry, completing the narrative arc conceived. for the game.

Kingdom Come Deliverance: A Woman's Lot - Review

Kingdom Come Deliverance: A Woman's Lot is the worthy conclusion of the set of DLCs that expand the story around the events of Henry. Most of the DLC will be based on the story of Theresa, which allows us to greatly expand the characterization of the character, thanks to dialogues and new information. The gameplay, although similar to the main story, adds several variants, one above all the use of Theresa who, not being skilled in combat, will force us to act in stealth mode thanks also to the use of our dog, faithful companion who will help us in practically every fight. The second, and shorter, section of the DLC is based on the story of Johanka, where we will instead get to know her background through a series of missions well characterized and stylistically similar to what we saw with the previous DLCs.
