Resident Evil Village - Maiden Demo Guide

During the showcase on January 21 dedicated to Resident Evil Village, Capcom certainly did not miss the news: among the many announcements, we were pleasantly surprised by the possibility of being able to try Resident Evil Maiden, a PlayStation 5 exclusive demo of the game. This is a visual demo: no fights, just exploration, solving simple environmental puzzles and some jumpscare. Waiting for a new test that allows us to test the combat system firsthand, we have written this guide to take you step by step from the Resident Evil Maiden underground cell to the Dimitrescu castle, the new gloomy home of Eastern Europe that will be of most of the events narrated in Resident Evil Village.

    Escape from the cell

At the beginning of Resident Evil Maiden you will wake up locked in the dark in a cell. Turn your back to the door and examine the brick wall, between which you will find a sheet of paper with some important clues to escape. Crouch and look under the bench to find a hole to crawl through and reach the adjacent cell, which unlike the first one has the door open.

Exit and continue along the long corridor. If you want, you can stop in the cell opposite the one you escaped from, to examine the portrait and the note on the shelf.

You will find two more cells ahead, one with no objects inside and one with a chained door. You can ignore them and continue further until you reach the cell with the instruments of torture and the woman's body under the table, with the words "Help me brother" drawn in blood. On the opposite side you will see instead and what remains of a hanged man, in another cell. At the end of this area you will find a large closed wooden door whose opening mechanism is on the left, also closed.

Then go back to the cell you visited earlier to find the deceased woman in a different position: inspect her to retrieve the wire cutters stuck in her back.

Use the tool you just obtained to cut the chains of the two closed cells: in one you can simply examine the man's corpse, while in the other, to be reached by avoiding the other corpses hanging like sausages that will fall on you in the corridor, you will have to examine the basin full of blood (remember the message found in your cell at the beginning of the demo?) to find the lockpick to escape from this area.

Then go back to the wooden door and unlock it using the lockpick on the left box, then continue into the next room and along the corridor, until you reach the next crypt, where you can examine some objects: impossible not to notice the barrels, which should contain wine. but which instead have something else inside! Continue around the table (you can examine the food and the turntable) and proceed to the opposite side of the circular room, where you will have to crouch in search of a beam of light (another clue contained in the note you collected in your cell). You should see light filtering through the doors of a cabinet which, when opened, will reveal a tunnel that will take you to the next room..

There seems to be nothing in this new room, but only at first glance. Crouch again and look in the direction of the candle-lit niche for a glimpse of the bloodstained brick protruding from the wall: push it to reveal a secret door and go up the stone staircase to find yourself on the upper floor. Examine the servants girl's diary to get a first taste of the hosts' hospitality, then go up the long ladder and through the hole in the brick wall to finally find yourself in the first room of the castle. finally in the castle and face the second part of Resident Evil Maiden.

    Escape from the castle

Inspect the small round table to examine the pendant. Continue towards the door with the two statues: you will find it closed, then take the alternative road and proceed: along the corridor you will see the shadow of a large figure move, but when you arrive later there will be no one. Continue exploring until you reach the large area with balconies, then examine the door with the face, which is missing one eye. Go down the stairs - the main door is obviously barred, but you can examine various objects in the area and take the other double door, which leads into the dining room.

Examine the bottles of wine but, above all, examine the chalice to find the ring with the red eye inside. Then examine the ring again until you detach only the red eye, to be inserted in the door upstairs (obviously, as you retrace your steps you will see the frightening large figure that seems to be wandering around the castle).

Behind the new door you will discover a room dedicated to wine: also examine the notes on the production of the precious red wine "blood of the virgin" according to the ancient tradition of the Dimitrescu and open the cabinet doors at the bottom to find the key to the courtyard. It goes without saying that when you leave the room and go down the stairs to leave, you will be attacked by the mysterious woman - formed by a swarm of insects - that you have only glimpsed through the corridors until now. The enemy will aim for the throat: be careful and run past it returning to the dining room to avoid the game over.

Go through the dining room too and go to the door at the back of the room to use the courtyard key and (hope to) escape. Congratulations, with this last action you have reached the end of the Resident Evil Maiden demo, the perfect calling card - really, it couldn't be better - for Resident Evil Village.
