Bloober Team, the team behind the horror video game The Medium unfortunately recently postponed, stated that the release of the title on the consoles of the current generation (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) would never have been possible due to hardware that is now becoming obsolete for certain types of video games.
The title indeed implements the Dual Reality system, which can only be supported by significantly more powerful platforms, a feature that, in fact, we can find in the next-gen consoles. The Medium will in fact see the light on Microsoft's new gem but, according to the first information leaked, there are some doubts regarding the release on PlayStation 5.
For now, we're focusing on Xbox Series X / S and PC, so we're not currently planning on releasing The Medium on other platforms.

Asked by fans as to why the title will be launched as an Xbox exclusive, the developer said the reasons are multiple, including the their with Microsoft.
It's a result of our s with Microsoft, the hardware we needed, and how our development progress and plans for Xbox Series X align. The end result is an exciting adventure that takes The Medium as one of the first games for the Xbox Series X.
Recall that last year Bloober Team launched Blair Witch on the market as an Xbox exclusive and then extended its release to PlayStation, so there are many to assume that The Medium could have the same fate. Currently, however, if you want to enjoy the upcoming horror title you can only do it on the next-gen console from Microsoft.
Recall that the game, whose release was initially scheduled for next December 10, will be launched on January 28, 2021 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
