Review for Total War: Warhammer 2. Game for PC, Mac and Linux, the video game was released on 28/09/2017

In the cold wastes of Naggaroth stands a kingdom drunk with wickedness: it is the home of the Dark Elves, the outcast children of Ulthuan. They look at the world with merciless eyes, certain that world domination is their birthright and that the destiny of others is to serve, provided they manage to survive. However, they cannot assert their rights as long as the hated high elves exist. They are two faces of a race divided centuries ago, split by the greatest betrayal ever committed. Even if all lands should bow to their will, the Naggarothians will have no peace until they bring Ulthuan to its knees, ruin its temples, and drive the High Elves into the sea. That day the Witch King of Naggaroth will finally sit on the throne denied him and the kingdom of the Dark Elves will spread to the whole world.
-The Lords of Naggaroth.

Total War: Warhammer II, The Queen & The Crone - Review

The Queen & The Crone is the first DLC focused on Lords and units of Total War: Warhammer 2 and follows the format of the Lord packs of the first chapter (The Grim and The Grave focusing on empire and vampire accounts and The King and the Warlord concerning greenskins and dwarves) of the strategy of Creative Assembly. This all-female package follows the belligerent stories of Dark Elves and High Elves, putting us at the helm of the cauldron of blood of the decrepit Hellebron or in the role of the eternal queen Alarielle, Avatar of the goddess Isha.

The elven armies are enriched with new mighty units already present in the penultimate edition of the successful board game signed by Games Workshop:

  • Sisters of Slaughter are the new whip infantry of the dark elves, hired for 1100 gold, possessing the defender, killing mastery and dodging skills: their whips are steeped in poison and strike fear into the enemy, making them a great unit versatile and efficient in multiple scenarios.
  • The sorcerers of the apocalypse, also known as sorcerers of the baleful fire, are a quick magic cavalry, that is able to circumvent most units, which inflicts magical and poisonous attacks. Sorcerers are able to cast “Lesser Fatal Bolt” Soul Plague ”spells and can be recruited per unit of gold by evil dark elves.
  • The sisters of the Averlon are a missile infantry subservient to the noble aims of the High Elves for the price of 1100 gold, these haughty archers are endowed with a long range, penetrating projectiles capable of inflicting magical and poisonous damage to the targets of the their arrows and are also adept at close combat, making them self-sufficient when loaded by low-cost infantry.
  • Shadow Warriors are the High Elf's new skirmishers unit, hiring for 850 gold. These ambush masters can line up in the vanguard and stay hidden on any type of terrain, making them a stealthy and deadly addition to the already solid High Elf roster.

High Elves see the following units gain regiments of fame: Lancers, White Lions, Phoenix Guards, Lothern Sea Guards, Shadow Warriors, Sisters of Arverlon, Dragon Princes, and Ellyrion Marauders. The Dark Elves will be able to deploy enhanced versions of the following units: Spears of Terror, Executioners, Shards (shields), Sorcerers of the Apocalypse, Knights of Dread, War Hydra and Dark Knights.

Although it is evident that this type of DLC is intended for users who see the multiplayer sector as the main experience of Total War: Warhammer II, Hellebron and Alarielle are also added to the "Eye of the Vortex" and "Mortal Empires" campaigns, with new features that follow the already well-established mechanics of their respective factions, such as a new ritual to be officiated by sacrificing slaves for the Druchii.

Total War: Warhammer II, The Queen & The Crone - Review

If you are avid fans of Total War: Warhammer II multiplayer this DLC hero pack must be absolutely yours, especially if High and Dark Elves are among your favorite factions: the new units, the new heroes and the regiments of fame are essential to expand the tactical choices at your disposal. The Queen and The Crone is negligible for those who prefer to dabble in single-player campaigns, providing few relevant additions and only one assignment battle per character, although for the price of 7,49 euros the two Legendary Lords are certainly a valid addition. .
