Just three months after the excellent reception at the debut on PC (on Epic Games Store; the game will arrive on Steam only in several months), Mac and Nintendo Switch, Untitled Goose Game has also landed on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, again at the introductory price of € 19,99, but if you buy it by January 2, 2020 you will benefit from a 25% discount, that is € 5. We have tested the Xbox One version for you.

Untitled Goose Game is basically one bizarre mixture of puzzle game and stealth game, in which the player impersonates a goose without a name, which must complete the complicated but honorable mission of breaking the boxes to almost all the humans he meets, doing all those mischievous things that we would see very well in the secular compilations of Paperissima. In some respects, we can say that the game is part of the trend inaugurated by Goat Simulator, but the affinities reside almost exclusively in the animal protagonist and in the harassment it produces: Untitled Goose Game, in fact, is a decidedly more refined game - the graphics do not it's hatchet cut and not bug-studded, for example - and textured.

The short adventure of the spiteful goose is divided into small interconnected areas: it starts from a garden and then arrives at the village road and so on. In each location the player has to complete small tasks, which usually involve the theft of some object or the harassment of humans present on site, animated by very simple behavioral routines, which however do not include violence against animals. When only one objective is missing, another one is added, which will open the doors to the next "level".

The control system is very simple, but the few moves available still allow a good number of interactions, with results that are not always obvious. Precisely in this lies the puzzle component of the game, which never proves frustrating thanks to the option that allows you to restore the initial state of things without losing any progress. Our goose can squawk, run, flap its wings and catch things with its beak… how will we do with these few trivial actions to force a farmer to change his hat? It's up to you to find out! The stealth component, so to speak, is soon said: as already mentioned, many of the tasks of our goose reside in stealing objects from humans, so it is necessary to act stealthily, wait for the human on duty to turn around or create diversions.

Untitled Goose Game is among the most interesting indies of the year, not only thanks to its concept, but also to the graphics and sound, which offer something new in the videloudic scenario. The quality of the port is great, but honestly it would have been hard to miss porting a technically very simple game.

The only note that can be made to the second House House opera (after the even more bizarre Push Me Pull You) is the longevity rather poor, especially if parameterized to the high price in the context of indie "games" (in quantitative and not qualitative terms, of course). Untitled Goose Game consists of five zones, which can be completed in three or four hours. There is a short post game, consisting of a new list of more complex tasks, which may require you to move objects from one area to another or to respect a time limit. However, even with these tasks, which will bring you a good number of Trophies or Achievements, the game shouldn't take you more than six hours.
