Advances on PS4 Pro, while other consoles still seem to suffer from glaring issues.

Patch 1.2 was released by CD Projekt RED with the intent of improving the player experience on Cyberpunk 2077, which struggles to perform at its best especially on last generation consoles. The effects of this new update, however, do not seem to have improved the overall experience on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox One X, while important results have been achieved on PlayStation 4 Pro, as shown in detail by a 'Digital Foundry analysis.

Those who have had the opportunity to consult the list of changes made to Cyberpunk 2077 since patch 1.2 will have found themselves faced with a huge size list: Among the many improvements there are also specific optimizations of the game engine, together with an improvement in the reflections on the screen and a better use of anti-aliasing. An effect that significantly affected the performance can be observed on the PlayStation 4 Pro and involves streaming, that is the way in which game assets are taken from main memory, decompressed and displayed on the screen: it would seem that streaming now works with a lower priority, a factor that goes to impact positively on the frame rate and negatively on the aesthetic detail, with textures that take longer to load and result in even more pop-in in some cases.

With the new patch, the PS4 Pro version of Cyberpunk 2077 manages to hold on anchored at 30 fps granite, while Xbox One X still struggles and despite some improvements sees the frame rate drop to around 20 fps on several occasions.

Regarding the base consoles, PS4 and Xbox One still limp conspicuously: there is talk of an improvement of 2 or 3 fps with the patch, however, in the face of numerous situations in which the frame rate is far from the minimum target of 30 fps.
