Mass Effect: There was a spin off inspired by Han Solo

The universes of Mass Effect and Star Wars share many similarities. Between aliens, space travel, galactic threats, heroes and villains, there are plenty of points of contact. A figure like that of Han Solo, in the Mass Effect universe, it could certainly be a good fit.

Mass Effect: There was a spin off inspired by Han Solo

In a recent interview with TheGamer, Mass Effect director Dorian Kieken has claimed that BioWare had thought of something similar.

In 2008 we thought of a spin off based on a character inspired by Han Solo. The universe would be the same as Mass Effect and would deepen and expand it. The story would parallel that of the first trilogy.

Although Han Solo is somewhat of a hero, he has always had a certain past. He was not a bad figure, nor a good one: the main character of the spin off should have been similar in alignment.

The idea of exploring such a character, a space smuggler / pirate was interesting. It would have been like exploring the world of Star Wars without being a Jedi.

The idea did not materialize because, given the success of the first chapter, it was decided to focus all efforts on Mass Effect 2 but it would undoubtedly have been interesting to see such a project materialize.

► Mass Effect is a Shooter-RPG type game developed by BioWare and published by Microsoft Studios Electronic Arts for PlayStation Network, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the video game was released on 20/11/2007 The version for PC came out on 28/05/2008
