It was the year 2004 when Neil Druckmann started working at Naughty Dog. Hired as a programmer, Druckmann contributed to the writing of the source code of Jak 3 and Jak X: Combat Racing, to then join the team that defined the design of the first two Uncharted.
But it was his next project that made him popular in the industry, a project of which he was a writer and creative co-director with Bruce Straley: we're talking about The Last of Us.
The exceptional combination Druckmann - Straley then gave life to the excellent Uncharted 4: A Thief's End after which, Straley left the studio to take a break from work.
Druckmann was later named vice president of Naughty Dog and found himself with the enormous weight of The Last Of Us Part II entirely on his shoulders.. Despite the very serious leaks, the accusations of excessive crunch and the shameful review bombing, the title proved to be a milestone not only for PlayStation 4 but for the entire history of video games.
Well, all this success could not go unnoticed and these days President Evan Wells issued an official statement on the studio's blog, announcing that Neil Druckmann has been promoted to co-chair of the company.
In short, a more than deserved success for one of the most influential figures in the video game industry.
Will the Wells-Druckmann duo last long or is the president's move to be considered a handover that heralds his future exit from the company? Only time will tell.
