A few days ago we reported the interesting initiative of SUP3R5 aimed at marketing not shells for modding but directly PS5 themed PlayStation 2 consoles and controllers available in limited numbers. However, the commercial project ended prematurely and in the worst way when the PS5-themed PlayStation 2 and DualSense controllers, available in limited quantities (304 consoles and 500 controllers), sold out and there were various problems on payments for confirmed units. .
It was immediately evident that the very high demand for these PlayStation 5 themed PlayStation 2 could not be handled in the best way by SUP3R5. The company ran for cover by first asking consumers for a second chance and then announcing the definitive cancellation of pre-emptions and refunds for all orders following threats to the safety of team members.
Everything was clarified via Twitter from the official SUP3R5 account (subsequently deleted) and in which it was indicated:
Last night, our team began receiving credible threats to their safety. We have taken these threats seriously. We are not willing to risk the safety and well-being of our team, or the potential impact it may have on the delivery of your order. All existing orders will be canceled and fully refunded in the coming days. You will be notified when this happens. Our intention was to celebrate a shared nostalgia in a fun way. Apparently, there are people out there who intend to interfere with all of this. If we determine that it will be possible to try again, we will. For now, please stay safe.
This event constitutes a bad page in the gaming world and unfortunately it is not the first time (think for example of those received by the developers of The Last of Us: Part II) in which threats of this type are advanced through social channels. We hope that SUP3R5 can realize its project, in the meantime the refunds have been arranged by the company.
