ROG XG27UQ: the first monitor with DSC technology

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) announces the availability of ROG Swift ROG Strix XG27UQ, the world's first gaming monitor alongside the ROG Swift PG32UQ to support Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology. This technology allows the new displays to offer 4K resolution at refresh rates up to 144Hz for super smooth, high quality images.

Display Stream Compression technology is a compression standard for sending ultra-high definition video streams through a single high-speed interface with no perceptible loss of visual quality. With built-in DSC technology, the ROG Strix XG27UQ is capable of reproducing incredibly detailed and smooth images at native 4K resolutions with a 144Hz refresh rate via a single DisplayPort 1.4 connection - and without resorting to chroma subsampling which negatively affects display quality.

To achieve this level of performance without DSC, gaming monitors need two DisplayPort connections to transfer the video signal from the PC. This typically requires complex driver setup and prevents HDR content and varying refresh rates from being displayed while gaming. The new ROG display eliminates all of these problems, supporting both HDR and variable refresh rates via a single DisplayPort 1.4 connection.

ROG Strix XG27UQ is capable of delivering smooth 4K images up to 144Hz with 1ms MPRT response time. The display is also compatible with NVIDIA G-SYNC and is DisplayHDR 400 certified, featuring exceptional contrast and 3% DCI-P90 professional color gamut coverage.
