According to the 2020 annual sales report, Sega has formalized the milestone of 14 million copies sold, considering all the chapters of the Yakuza series. Previously, Sega had announced 11 million copies in 2018 and 12 million in 2019. Obviously the release of Yakuza: Like a Dragon had a significant impact. Obviously Yakuza has enjoyed a lot of fame in Japan but also the numbers outside his homeland are record-breaking, thanks to the attraction that Japanese culture arouses in players. However, it seems that despite Yakuza's success, SEGA still considers the brand as a niche, and wants to try to expand its market. The multi-platform launch was a deliberate move for that orientation. Recall that Yakuza: Like a Dragon is already available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S while it will arrive on PlayStation 5 on 21 March.
