With the launch now imminent, let's take a look at a last wave of information shared by Square Enix for NEO: The World Ends With You

With the title now very close to launch, scheduled for the end of the month, we return with another wave of information on NEO: The World Ends With You. This time around, we'll take a look at some new narrative details, some new and old characters, and some insight into gameplay mechanics not discussed in our trial. As mentioned, this is not the first time we have covered NEO: The World Ends With You with insights, so we invite you to retrieve the previous preview and our tried-and-true of the title in case you are interested!

Let's start with some new details on the narrative. Unlike the first title, which focused entirely on the Demon Game and Neku's character development, the sequel poses a mystery before our eyes. In fact, as the adventure proceeds, Rindo will begin to witness visions that foretell the destruction of Shibuya and will have to find out how this is linked to the Demons and the game in which he is forced to participate. Only by coming to the truth will it be possible to understand whether Shibuya's fall is avoidable. This is already suggested in the very first game sections of the demo, where it is noted Rindo witnesses one of these visions he uses to save his best friend from an accident.

We were able to use the power of the "Remind" during the demo, however there is a second power that can be used in exploration and linked to the character that we have not yet been able to meet in game: the Imprinting. Just as Remind can awaken memories in people, Imprinting puts ideas in them that can change their thoughts and actions in the immediate future. Mechanics that we find very interesting and that reminds us with pleasure Person 2: Innocent As far as gossip could influence reality.

After the numerous characters belonging to the various factions, which we have already talked about, a familiar face is presented to long-time fans ... or at least to some of them. Coco returns, the exclusive character of the additional chapter present only in the “Final Remix” version of the first chapter. The demon girl shows up with a change of design from the original, pink hair and a much more pastel goth look, but keeps her deceptive and calculating character. In addition to her, in the latest information we share about the game we also get to know some secondary characters: Eiji Oji, already encountered in the demo, Eiru, popular streamer with self-esteem problems towards his own voice, Ryoji handyman of Shibuya and Ken Doi, NPC already present in the first The World Ends With You.

We conclude with a look at the system for enhancing the skills of the characters, or rather the entire system that decides their skills: the Pins. In NEO The World Ends With You everything that can be done in battle is decided by the pins equipped with each of the commandable characters (which we remember must be used simultaneously). But the novelty is the presence of "Uber" pins, special skills that can only be equipped by respecting a certain level and that possess particular skills. The three examples shown could create firing homing rockets, create barriers that give complete immunity to any attack, or summon birds to attack enemies in your place. However, equipping them is not the only choice you will have, as there will also be sets of pins that, when equipped to the whole team, will give special effects. The choice therefore arises between having a single, portentous skill or a set of effective synergies.

NEO: The World Ends With You seems to have a lot of content, which Square Enix is sharing at a steady pace. After more than a decade the brand is back in business with a new chapter and the developer is betting big on this game. The new information only confirms our already ample optimism created thanks to the demo, now we just have to wait to have the title in our hands to sum up Rindo's adventure! Will it live up to the cult starring Neku?
