Project Nimbus: Code Mirai - Review

Review for Project Nimbus: Code Mirai. Game for PlayStation 4, the video game was released on 14/05/2018

Project Nimbus: Code Mirai is the new third person action game of Game Crafter Team, which will put us at the helm of enormous humanoid mecha, here called Frames, with which we will launch into frenetic aerial clashes in the skies set on fire by war, of a Planet Earth (and its surroundings) now rendered unrecognizable by human madness. This, broadly speaking, is the game world of Project Nimbus: Code Mirai: _lhe World War III has recently ended and has left the planet devastated. The melting of the polar ice caps has caused the level of the oceans to rise, thus drastically reducing habitable land. The states that have emerged victorious from the conflict have seen fit to pack up their bags and move to brand new hyper-technological flying cities or the inevitable orbiting stations.

Naturally, the nations defeated and literally left on the ground have been hatching revenge for years, which will soon arrive in the form of ferocious hit and run attacks, at least initially, and then gradually turn into a real offensive on a large scale, also thanks to some latest generation technologies stolen from opponents.

As you may have already understood, the plot does not shine particularly for originality, drawing large hands from the best known mecha-themed works, Gundam e Zone of the Enders primarily. And to ZOE, our Project Nimbus: Code Mirai owes more than a certain amount of plot inspiration.

The gameplay of this title is practically the same, except for a few small details that make it a little less "cloned" than what we have seen in the successful series that we have seen in past generations of consoles and which is about to land soon. even on PlayStation 4. The control of our mecha is almost identical, as is the structure of the missions, all "in flight" and without any ground combat between robots, which is instead predominant in titles such as the recent Battletech.

Despite the lack of originality, or perhaps thanks to this, the controls of Project Nimbus: Code Mirai will be immediately familiar to any fan of this type of games, and in any case easily assimilated even by the neophyte, which will allow us to immediately take part in the action. Action that, it must be said, will almost always be frenetic in a stimulating way with an excellent learning curve, except for just a couple of missions which, at least for our tastes, are unjustifiably difficult and punitive.

During the campaign, which unfortunately is not very long but still moderately compelling, we will take control of several Frames whose substantial differences will almost always be, in addition to the appearance, represented by the quantity and type of armament available, however without having the possibility of decide for ourselves what kind of weapons to equip for that particular mission. Later in the game, we will also be able to get our hands on some Frames models capable of transforming themselves into an agile and fast fighter fighter, in much the same way as the series Macross/Robotech.

This invention is also original zero but it is still very fun, adding a further variable to the air combat.

Project Nimbus: Code Mirai - Review

Technically speaking Project Nimbus: Code Mirai cannot really be said to be at the top of the range, some graphic details of vehicles seen up close seem to come out directly from the Playstation 3, but still it does its duty flawlessly, also presenting quite often, explosions and other spectacular effects and not slowing down in the least even during the most excited actions.

Text and speech are only available in Japanese and English. Our advice, if you want to get a rendering as much as possible in the traditional anime style, is to play Project Nimbus: Code Mirai with the speech in Japanese, obviously subtitled.

Project Nimbus: Code Mirai - Review

Project Nimbus: Code Mirai is a very immediate and fun title. Not superlative, but still a very valid game from many points of view, which certainly must be tried. Its biggest flaws are ultimately, an absolute lack of originality both for plot and gameplay, and the short duration of the campaign, after which you will hardly be enticed to resume the game a second time. A game much more than enough, at times really very fun, but which could definitely be more cared for in some aspects.
