Full Metal Furies - Review

Review for Full Metal Furies. Game for PC, Steam, Mac, Xbox One, Linux and Nintendo Switch, the video game was released on 17/01/2018 The version for Nintendo Switch came out on 06/11/2018

Mythology and video games have often gone hand in hand, just think of the very successful saga of God of War. But not only the great productions have been interested in the classical gods and their supporting actors. Even the guys from Cellar door games, an independent software house based in Toronto, were inspired by Hellenic mythology for their latest effort, Full Metal Furies.

Full Metal Furies is in fact a frenetic action RPG with 2D graphics, which will see us take control of the Furies, committed to countering the Titans and their evil minions, guilty of dragging the whole world to the brink of annihilation.

Full Metal Furies it takes many licenses from classical mythology, placing it all in an almost post-nuclear context, including firearms of various types, and presenting the whole story with a massive dose of humor and macabre jokes. Also, in the game the Furies will be four and not the usual three that we studied on the desks in high school. Each Fury has its own equipment, specialization and a particular set of moves, both "routine" and amazing special actions.

In fact we will have a Tank, good close attacks and excellent defense, a fighter, with devastating short and medium range attacks, a sniper with (obviously) very long range attacks and an engineer, with support functions. In single player we will be able to take control of two Furies at a time and, starting from a base camp that will act as a hub, explore the various levels passing from one character to another by simply pressing a button, so that you can make the most of the peculiar characteristics of the character.

It is therefore understood that it is very important to know all the particular abilities of each Fury well, in order to always create the most suitable party for each level which, as usual, can only end with a nice old-fashioned Boss fight!

Around the levels, we will also find a mountain of strange objects, most of which can be used or sold to improve the characteristics and equipment of our terrible bad girls and which will satisfy the various fans of wild looting very well.

Both the Furies and the opponents themselves are very well characterized as characters, outlined with few but incisive traits that still give credibility to the character (but never forget the strong parody vein).

Graphics and sound do their duty very well, giving a Full Metal Furies a strong retro feeling, much appreciated these days. The playability is excellent, even if you run the risk of falling into a certain monotony after a few hours, particularly if played in single player. Fortunately, Full Metal Furies it features a cooperative multiplayer sector, both online and local, which allows us to tackle the levels together with friends, up to a maximum of four players.

Ultimately, we can say that Full Metal Furies it is really an excellent title, with its strengths and weaknesses, but still a game that is worth discovering without problems, quietly ignoring the small imperfections that unfortunately are present. Recommended.

Full Metal Furies will be available for PC (Steam) and Xbox One starting January 17, 2018
