The procedure for get a refund from Amazon it is quite simple: in fact, to return an item purchased online and obtain a refund, just start the return procedure within 30 days of purchase and follow the instructions provided by Amazon.

How to get a refund from Amazon for an order

To start the return procedure e get your money back from Amazon:

  • connect to the main page of the online shopping site,
  • log into your account,
  • click on the option Account e list,
  • enter your access data in the fields E-mail address or mobile number and Password,
  • press the button Log in.

Now:

  • click on the item Returns and orders, top right,
  • find the order that interests us and press the relevant button Return or exchange items. If we don't see this option, it means that the items included in the order in question are no longer eligible for return.

On the new page that opened:



  • tick the Articles that we want to return,
  • for each selected article, indicate the reason for return by choosing, in the drop-down menu Choose an answer, one of the options available between:
  1. Purchased by mistake,
  2. Incompatible or inadequate,
  3. Missing components or accessories,
  4. Defective or non-functional item,
  5. other.

If necessary:

  • enter further details regarding the product we are returning in the field Post comments ,
  • click on the button Go on,
  • in the screen How can we fix it?, choose one of the available refund options:
  1. Refund to your Amazon account balance: this option allows you to receive your refund immediately. The relevant amount will be credited to your Amazon account and can be used to pay for future purchases. In some cases, this option allows you to get a refund from Amazon without returning the item.
  2. Refund on the payment method used: allows you to receive the refund directly on the payment method used to purchase the item to be returned. By choosing this option, the refund will be made within two weeks of the item being shipped.

If we have decided to receive the refund as an Amazon balance:

  • confirm our choice by placing the check mark next to the option Yes, issue a refund to my Amazon account.

In both cases:


  • click on the button Go on,
  • in the section How you will ship your return?, put the check mark next to one of the available shipping options, for example:
  1. Amazon Locker,
  2. Request a home collection with the SDA courier,
  3. UPS - returns without packaging and labels.

It should be noted that the available return solutions and the relative shipping costs vary according to the item we are returning and the seller from whom we bought it. Returns are usually completely free for goods sold and shipped by Amazon.


Done this:

  • make sure that all the data shown in the section Refund summary are correct,
  • click the button Confirm the return address, to request the return of the previously selected item.

If everything has been done well, we will see, on the screen, the instructions for preparing the package to be sent and, if required by the type of shipment chosen, thereturn label to be printed and inserted inside the package itself.

To retrieve the instructions and return label, you can also:

  • access the section Returns and orders of our account,
  • click on the button View return label and instructions, related to the item we returned.

By selecting the option Status displayed / Cancel return, you can monitor the status of the return and refund and, in case of second thoughts, even cancel it.


If we want to do all this da smartphone o tablet, we have to use a special Amazon app:

  • launch the Amazon app for devices
  1. Android (also available on alternative stores, for devices without Google services),
  2. iPhone/iPad,
  • log into your account,
  • tap on thelittle man located in the menu below,
  • press on the item my orders,
  • select thearticle that we intend to return,
  • tap on the option Return or exchange items.

On the screen Reason for the request:

  • put the check mark next to one of the options available between -
  1. Purchased by mistake,
  2. Item arrived late,
  3. Received wrong item,
  4. Defective or non-functional item,
  • specify more details in the field Comments,
  • press the button Continue.

Done this:


  • choose whether to receive the refund in the form of an Amazon balance -Refund to your Amazon account balance,
  • or directly on the payment method using during the purchase phase - Refund on your [card data],
  • tap the button Continue.

Choose the type of shipment from those available:

  • in the section How will you ship your return,
  • press the button Confirm the return address, to confirm your intention,
  • view all the instructions for shipping the item we intend to return.

How to get a refund for shipping costs from Amazon

As we have seen, during the return procedure on Amazon, it is possible to choose the method of shipping the item to be returned and, consequently, the shipping charges to be incurred to send the package containing the item.

For articles sold and shipped from AmazonUsually, the shipping costs are never charged to the buyer, who can choose from numerous free return options, and obtain a full refund of the amount paid when ordering.

As for the purchases made from other sellers:

  • the shipping costs to be incurred to make a return vary from seller to seller,
  • if they are provided, and if we choose one of the solutions indicated by the seller, they are automatically "deducted" from the refund provided.

If we have already made a purchase and, before making the return, we want to understand what are the shipping costs to be incurred, we find all the indications on the screen How you will ship your return.

If, on the other hand, we want to have this information before making a purchase, it is good to read the page:

  • Our return policies by Amazon,
  • in the case of third party sellers, go directly to the seller's main page.

How to get a refund from Amazon without a refund

For some types of items (eg consumables), it is possible be refunded by Amazon without refund, as long as you choose to have the refund directly on your Amazon account.

To check if we can keep an item we have purchased and, at the same time, receive a refund:

  • connect to the main page of Amazon,
  • log into your account,
  • press on the option Returns and orders, top right,
  • click on the button Return or exchange items relating to the order of our interest,
  • in the screen Select the article, tick next toarticle for which we are requesting a refund.

Now:

  • via the drop-down menu Reason for the request, indicate the reason why we request the return by choosing one of the options available between -
  1. Purchased by mistake,
  2. Best available price,
  3. Damaged item and outer packaging,
  4. Received wrong item,
  • if necessary, provide further details in the field Post comments .

To continue:

  • click the button Go on,
  • in the screen How can we fix it?, make sure the option is available Refund without return on your Amazon account balance,
  • in that case, put the check mark next to this refund option and click the button Continue, to receive it immediately.

To view our Amazon balance:

  • press on the item Account e list,
  • select the option Gift vouchers and top-ups,
  • in the newly opened page, you can view the available balance next to the item Your Gift Certificate balance.

The balance in question will automatically be used to pay for future purchases on Amazon.

If we prefer to proceed da smartphone or tablet, the procedure is almost identical.

That is this:

  • launch the Amazon app,
  • press the icon oflittle man located in the menu below,
  • select the option my orders,
  • choose thearticle of our interest,
  • in the new screen displayed, tap on the item Return or exchange items.

At this point:

  • tick next to reason of our request between -
  1. Missing components or accessories,
  2. Unauthorized purchase,
  • enter other details in the field Comments,
  • press the button Continue.

In the How can we fix it ?:

  • select the option Refund without return on your Amazon Account balance,
  • tap the button Continue, to get a full refund in the form of an Amazon balance, to be used for future purchases.

How to get a refund for Amazon Prime

In all this it is possible, too, get a refund for Amazon Prime, so:

  • connect to the Amazon site,
  • after logging into your account, click on the item Account e list placed in the top menu,
  • select the option Prime,
  • in the new open page, you can view the details of our subscription, including:
  1. the Prime shipments we have used,
  2. i film e series TV viste su Amazon Prime Video,
  3. songs played on Amazon Music,
  4. all other services included in Amazon Prime.

If the various counters are all reset, it means that we have not used our Prime subscription and could receive a full refund if the service is deactivated.

To proceed:

  • press on the option Update, delete and more visible in the box Signing up,
  • click on the buttons End your subscription e End my benefits,
  • select the option Unsubscribe,
  • in the screen Confirmation of unsubscription, click the button again Cancel subscription, to deactivate Amazon Prime.

By doing so, if we are entitled to a refund, we will receive an email confirming the unsubscribe and, subsequently, a new email regarding the refund.

If we prefer to disable the automatic renewal of the Prime subscription, da smartphone o tablet:

  • launch the Amazon app,
  • log into your account,
  • press the icon oflittle man located in the menu below,
  • tap on the option My Account,
  • press on the item Prime Membership visible in the section Account settings,
  • click on options Manage subscription e Update, delete and more.

Finally:

  • click on the buttons End your subscription e End my benefits,
  • select the option Cancel subscription twice in a row, to deactivate Prime and receive any refund for not having used the service.

How to get a refund on Amazon Music

It is not possible get a refund for Amazon Music, as indicated in the general conditions of use of the music streaming service.

However, in case we are experiencing problems with the service, or we have been charged with unwanted costs, you can contact Amazon's customer service and explain what happened.

To do it from computer:

  • connect to the main page of Amazon,
  • log into your account,
  • click on the option Account e liste,
  • select items Help e Contact us,
  • in the new screen, press on the option Music, eBooks, games or videos.

Using the drop-down menus in the section Tell us more about your problem:

  • select options -
  1. Amazon Music,
  2. General questions about Amazon Music,
  3. Abbonamento Amazon Music Unlimited,
  • choose the option of our interest between -
  1. Chat, to contact Amazon in chat,
  2. Phone, to book a call from an Amazon operator.
