Let's Sing 2021 - Review

Review for Let's Sing 2021. Game for Xbox One, the video game was released on 13/11/2020

Board games or however they want to be defined, family game, have been experiencing a new youth for some years, especially those with multiplayer features like Let's Sing 2021. Also due to the current pandemic, the attraction for karaoke-style games is growing. Ravenscourt relaunches the new episode of the series a few weeks after publishing Let's Sing Queen, thus continuing in the niche genre that thrills those who love to accompany a microphone to the joypad.

The basic premise of Let's Sing 2021 is obviously always the same. Players simply sing the scrolling lyrics displayed on the screen as they try to intone the correct notes. These are represented by lines that change according to the tone of the original singer, building a good performance (with a high score) is a matter of taking note of the right notes with the exact timing to support them as much as needed.

Like its predecessors, Let's Sing 2021 has a decent variety of game modes, in truth without making major additions to the original leitmotif. It joins from Classic mode (in which you will compete with the computer in a challenge of singing precision) to challenge Feat. and Mixtape, that they involve the performance of a duet (in harmony) or the medley of several songs for a single lineup.

Obviously, the mode is also present Let's party which pits two teams against each other in a series of interesting challenges, both cooperatively and online. From the player who simply wants to sing his favorite songs or try to challenge friends in wacky mini games, there is something for everyone, as long as of course you don't expect any amazing surprises from a title that is and remains a karaoke collection.

If we want, a new addition to the franchise is the way Legends. It works like a sort of career mode in which the goal is to confront AI-controlled avatars in a series of chanting challenges each time different. The single round culminates in what feels like a boss battle, adding some spice and suspense to a genre that doesn't normally have any.

As for the game interface, Let's Sing 2021 has perfected the visual style of the titles of previous years, as already seen in the volume dedicated to Queen. The menus are elegant, with a simple but effective layout that makes it easy to access the desired game mode or setting. This also extends to the management of player avatars, however not particularly detailed.

Also this time the game of the Voxler team it does not necessarily require you to have USB microphones adequate. The series has always tried to be as accessible as possible and this policy rightfully continues into Let's Sing 2021. This means that players can actually sing the tracks using a smartphone or even a headset. To use a mobile device users simply need to download the Let's Sing app for Android or iOS and then sync it by entering a code.

The pairing in our test never showed any signs of uncertainty. Certainly Using a mobile phone instead of a controller can broaden the appeal and make it much easier to enter a Let's Sing 2021 cooperative match.

Clear that a title like this lives and thrives depending on its library of songs. Let's Sing 2021 includes 30 songs by default, ranging from (a few) old-time classics to recent international hits. The new songs include hits by Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa, for example, but there are also songs from The Lion King soundtrack or Genesis discography. In any case, it is immediately quite obvious that this title must be considered in combination with a consolidated series of DLC packages, essential to personalize your musical selection, or even better with the Song Pass (included in the Platinum edition), which makes available all the DLCs that will be gradually released. (Editor's note: At the moment it is not known if the packs of songs purchased and used on previous versions will be somehow usable in the 2021 edition of the Ravenscourt title).

The game modes at a glance:

  • Legend Mode: A brand new solo experience has been added to the game. The goal is to give players a sense of progression. Avatars have been assigned personalities and attitudes to oppose the antagonists, proposing challenges that become increasingly difficult as the player progresses.
  • Classic: As the word says, the classic karaoke.
  • Feat.: Mode focused on a "song compatibility score" with friends and family or with the real singer when played in single.
  • World Contest: Try to challenge other singers online. The game shows the performance of the other players as if you were singing together.
  • Mix Tape 2.0: Mix different dynamically generated medleys and guarantee a playlist that never repeats. It can be customized as you level up to create your own favorite mixtapes.
  • Let's party: 8 players, 2 teams and randomly chosen game modes (there are seven in total).
  • Playlist Creator: The player can now create their own playlist and play it in Classic, Feat. And Mixtape mode.

Let's Sing 2021 - Review

Let's Sing is trying to do a great job of distinguishing itself from a simple karaoke app. The developer has introduced a number of interesting mechanics and game modes to shuffle the cards, such as the challenging Legends mode to increase the interest of solo singers. Obviously, the game remains more fun when played in a group, because this is its natural calling. The big flaw remains, similarly to what we already pointed out in the title dedicated to Queen a few weeks ago, the total absence of control over the pronunciation of the song lyrics. Without this substantial breakthrough, perhaps it would make more sense to offer each new episode as an expansion and not as a stand-alone title.
