Porting PC-born titles to consoles is becoming an increasingly common practice in the gaming industry: we've seen it with The Sims, Civilization and now with Two Point Hospital. Developed by Two Point Studios, it is a hospital management software that we have already been able to review in its PC version and that we have now analyzed in its console version, more precisely on Xbox One.

Being a management software, Two Point Hospital puts the player in charge of a hospital, which is however slightly different from those we are used to: in fact everything is "imaginative", from invented pathologies up to the strangest machines who do not want in any way to reconnect to reality, thus disconnecting it from any possible error in the videogame transposition.

Starting our career as a hospital director, we will be introduced to a series of deep tutorials that allow us to enter the "core" of the game, allowing us to learn the mechanics step by step, which unlike what it may seem, are not so trivial. We will have to manage every single aspect of our hospital, starting with personnel management, to move on to the construction and purchase of new machinery up to patient satisfaction, which then represents our source of income to grow and prosper in the world of health.

The editor provides us with many objects, which we will gradually unlock, so as not to get confused, and fully understand their potential. The first things to build will obviously be the reception and the rooms for the general practitioner, and then, as the request progresses, build diagnostic rooms, pharmacies, wards and specific instruments for certain pathologies. Obviously, there is no shortage of all the surrounding objects that serve to increase the prestige and appeal of each room, such as pictures, plants or entertainment systems. Everything will have to be thought out to make the patient's experience perfect, so we will have to think carefully about the space to be dedicated to them, creating pleasant waiting rooms, with vending machines for food, drinks or magazines, while trying to make it as short as possible their waiting is possible.

The same must be done with the staff, which we can hire and fire at virtually any time and which we divide into doctors, nurses, assistants and orderlies. To keep the staff's mood high we will have to attend to frequent salary increases, construction of welcoming staff rooms and of course making the hospital a pleasant place to work. It will be our care maintain and train our staff, in fact in Two Point Hospital we will also have the opportunity to have a sort of University Hospital able to train its employees and young university students, who we can instruct in all branches present, starting from diagnostics, to go for example to psychology, pharmacy and so on.

Training allows us to constantly increase the quality of our staff, which will become faster in diagnosing, more effective and obviously will have a consistently positive mood. In addition to training, the search: in fact, we will have the possibility of having a hospital with a research center, which will need a doctor trained for the same, and which will allow us to discover and develop new technologies such as chromotherapy or X-rays, so as to increase the catchment area and therefore our earnings.

Two Point Hospital is however a management system and as such things must be done wisely, otherwise it will be very simple losing money and ending up with a bad account, which should scare us since the game allows us to rapply for loans, increase / decrease the prices of services, distributors and anything else that can be purchased in the hospital. However, we will always have to pay attention to our expenses, thus managing every single purchase, hiring or promotion.

Sometimes, however, things can go really well, so well that we will not know how to spend our money since our hospital is perhaps full, in these cases the game allows you to expand your center by purchasing new neighboring lots in which to build new sections of work, thus increasing the prestige and reputation of your hospital, in addition of course to earnings. The reputation of the hospital is indeed very important, and to define it, the game will involve the directors in one every year prizegiving, which will hand out prizes for the best doctor, nurse etc.

As mentioned at the beginning, Two Point Hospital does not want to be a "serious" representation of reality, but rather it does bring you to the world of hospital management in a fun way: you will often have a laugh when you see people with light bulb-shaped heads due to a pathology or machines with dubious diagnostic efficiency that look rather like machines to torture our poor patients. The voice that gives the warnings in the wards is also very funny, which quickly takes you back to the days of Theme Hospital, a title from which obviously this chapter takes up many mechanics.

From a management point of view, Two Point Hospital is therefore very interesting, even if it does not want to overdo it, perhaps to be more accessible to the public, which in fact will not have much difficulty in approaching it. Speaking of the transposition on console we must say that it is not bad at all: we have not noticed major changes, if not precisely the adaptations necessary to be able to use the game with the gamepad. The controls are simple and easy to use, which quickly made us forget that we were playing with a gamepad, demonstrating that even the management systems can be played on consoles, albeit not with the same ease and quality as the PC counterpart.

From the graphic point of view we have not found big differences compared to the PC version; which, however, already had a fairly simple but effective graphics. The Xbox One version we tried has never given us big signs of uncertainty, except in some moments, especially in the most crowded areas of the hospital, where the frame rate has not proved exactly granite, therefore giving some signs of instability. even if we would like to say that the version we tested was on Xbox One S so probably on Xbox One X or PlayStation 4 Pro these problems should not exist, or in any case they should be limited to some too crowded scene.

Two Point Hospital - Xbox One Review

Two Point Hospital is a hospital management software that takes us back to the days of Theme Hospital, thanks to a variety of mechanics that are easy to use, allowing anyone to approach the game. It seemed very interesting to us the possibility of training staff as we liked and of studying new technologies with research, all in an alternative world with pathologies and bizarre machinery. From a purely technical point of view, the console version seemed to us to be successful, with good command management and above all with an interesting graphic rendering, given its simplicity. We found only some uncertainties about the frame rate, mainly in the scenes with more elements on the screen, where our Xbox One S had some management difficulties, which however was always resolved in a few moments, never going to impact on the gaming experience. . In conclusion, Two Point Hospital is a hospital management system that can entertain those who love the world of healthcare a lot, but also those who are completely strangers to it, making it challenging but fun at the same time.
