Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Phantom Sight - Review

Year four season two, we are not talking about the TV series but the current state of Rainbow Six Siege. Exit close to theE3, where for else Ubisoft announced Quarantine (all PvE stand alone title set in the R6 universe and born from the success of Mission Outbreak), Operation Phantom Sight brings with it several novelties.

First of all the operators we talked about last month, when we tried them in preview, useful to refresh the ranks of the full-bodied and now fed cluster of soldiers usable in the game. Nokk and Warden are not the revolution, but they certainly aren't conservative operators either; especially the Danish operator in attack offers several interesting insights thanks to her ability to hide from the cameras.

The "North Sea Caveira" is certainly the most interesting addition since a "Stealth" element in attack was missing from the title roster. The “007 de 'Noantri” however, at the current state of the meta game, does not find a space in the choices of the players who prefer more versatile elements such as Lesion or Vigil.

Regarding the use: Nokk is an operator who, despite the two armor points and the two speed points, allows a sudden approach, offering an excellent feeling of agility and shrewdness in reasoned and flanking approaches.

Warden, on the other hand, the few times we have used it has shown us all its limitations since being an extremely slow and staid operator is unable to implement circumvention techniques. His ability is also useless when Glaz, Ying, and stun grenades are not used in attack.

As for the equipment, as we told you in the preview phase, it is for the first time a "recycling" of weapons already seen in previous operators. Together with the operators in Operation Phantom Sight, the Kafé Dostoevskij map has also been adjusted through a rework able to make it more suited to the strategies implemented by the various players at this precise moment of the game.

Together with the classic innovations, we find two big introductions on an aesthetic and game ecosystem level. The first novelty lies in the graphics of the shop's menus and classifieds; now the shop will be in line with the shops of several competitive online titles: modernized and with large images that replace the more obsolete "shopping list". The most consistent news, on the other hand, concerns the classified, not only will they now have a dedicated menu that will show you the points needed for each grade and your situation in terms of wins, losses, U / M ratio and score, but from this season they will be homologated as seen in the Pro League.

From Operation Phantom Sight onwards, Ranked will only be played in Bomb mode and will feature the initial Pick and Ban phase. In fact, in forty seconds the two teams will banner two operators each (one for attack and one for defense) which cannot be used by either team. Additionally, each team will now play three rounds on offense and three rounds on defense consecutively, as is already done in Rainbow Six Siege eSports competitions. The Presidium and Hostage modes, therefore, can only be played in the free and frankly we are happy about this.

As we have already told you, Operation Phantom Sight is not a season of revolution, but rather a season of adjustment on which to rely perhaps new more "whimsical" operators in the near future. Nokk is certainly the most interesting of the novelties while the rework by Kafé Dostoevskij, an obligatory choice for a map that is fun to play and stimulating for the players. Let's not forget the news of the classifieds that will finally accustom and bring the players closer to the style shown in the Pro League competitions. As he settles in Rainbow Six he only stumbles with the defensive operator who could become the new Tachanka, albeit with less charisma.
