    Vesper - Tested the demo

On Steam it is possible to download and try the demo of a title that could be interesting for lovers of the genre; We are talking about Vesper, the first project from the Cordens Interactive development team that looks like a 90s-style platform game.

    A retro-style platformer

"Thousands of years after the activation of the Vesper Protocol, a small android pursued by hostile machines crosses the wastes of a fallen world, to control the power of the Light and decide the future of his race."

This is the beginning of the game, and during the demo available on steam it is possible to understand how the continuation of the adventure is based on a fairly classic series of platforming mechanics. It goes from simple platform jumps to environmental puzzles, or stealth phases to get around enemy robots. The mechanics that stand out most during the test is certainly the use that the little android makes of light, thanks to his special weapon: it will in fact be possible to absorb the light from some devices and then shoot it on switches that will open doors, or even against enemies; in this case the player will be able to take control of these robots to destroy them or to complete environmental puzzles. Enemy robots that do not have great artificial intelligence, but this does not create major problems, and sometimes they get stuck between the walls during the alert phase, but even then it is an issue that is easy to solve for the full version.

The gameplay is still quite trivial but that could please the nostalgic of the classic platformers, and in any case what we have seen is only a part of the game in pre-alpha, so we might change our minds when we get our hands on the full game.

    A pretty good glance

As for the graphic and artistic sector, Vesper does a really good job; from the beginning of the demo we will find ourselves immersed in this sci-fi world from dark tones but at the same time with very bright colors that will help to give a wow effect at every start of the game. The background is still the most detailed and inspired thing as regards the graphic sector, the model of the protagonist and the enemies are, in fact, quite simple and not very memorable.

We therefore have average expectations for the title, but that for being the first project of the guys at Cordens Interactive could be a nice surprise, especially for fans. However, we would like to point out, for those willing to try the demo, that a few moments from the end we ran into a bug that did not allow us to conclude the test at 100%, as our protagonist suddenly found himself without a weapon, and therefore without the possibility to advance in the adventure.

Between classic playful elements, a sci-fi atmosphere accompanied by an excellent artistic level, especially the backgrounds, and the small and large problems that we hope can be fixed in time for the full version of the title, we are faced with a title of debut not bad and that could be the beginning of a dream for the guys of Cordens Interactive.
