Looking forward to the great annual clash between the football giants: FIFA e Pro Evolution Soccer, August gave us two alternative titles for football lovers. A few days later they hit the market Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions e Street Power Football. Developed by SFL Interactive and released last August 25, Street Power Football tries to carve out its space among the greats of football, trying to leverage a user linked to works similar to FIFA Street or why not the recent Volta mode, but it managed to conquer us of Epic Videogames Guide?

Find out with us.

Street football

Street Power Football has as its main goal to attract all gamers who love the series FIFA Street and all those who did not appreciate the Volta mode introduced by Electronic Arts with the latest installment in the series FIFA. The development team SFL Interactive,  with the full awareness of not being able to compete with the giant Electronic Arts, it proposes a street football different from the one we all know; packaging an accessible and immediate title without falling too banal.

Where in FIFA Street the player finds hours of fun, playing the role of great football champions; such as: Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Beckham, Rooney, Henry and others; Street Power Football does not offer the same roster of professional players that we are used to, but decides to focus on the practicality of street football and spectacle. In Street Power Football the player finds a roster of 25 freestyle stars. Among these stars stands out Andrew Henderson, Javi Freestyle and the presence of Sean Garnier in Become King.

Street Power Football - Review

Alongside these 25 freestyle stars we find a substantial package of modes. The six modes available at launch represent modern street football, where you can challenge the CPU in different selectable difficulty levels or challenge your friends. Each game mode offers the player a minimum of customization: you can choose the scenario, the ball and the freestyle star with which to take the field.

Starting with order, the first game mode that we find at our disposal is Become King. This mode allows us to travel the globe with Sean Garnier and address all the modalities present in Street power football with objectives and challenges of increasing difficulty. In Become King the aim is to establish itself as a freestyle legend, unfortunately, however, this mode suffers from a certain basic repetition and lacks involvement. After Become King, we can find Trickshot. In this game mode, the player's aim is to hit the props present in the scenario. This game mode is one of the most successful of Street power football. This mode offers a high level of difficulty even at the initial levels, thanks to "perhapsEven a non-optimal implementation of the camera. Overall this game mode is well structured and fun.

After having analysed Trickshot, let's go to the mode Cream. In this mode the player finds himself in 1 vs 1 challenges in really tight arenas. The purpose of this mode allows the player to humiliate the opponent with spectacular plays and humiliating tunnels using the combination of buttons on the screen. In this mode, the camera, despite the spaces are much narrower, manages very well the game action, unfortunately, however, this mode is not among the most successful as in the short term it tends to be very boring due to its limitedness. Another game mode featured in Street Power Football è Freestyle. This mode allows the player to engage in solitary performances; the only goal of this mode is to create spectacular performances. The game controls are inspired by the most famous Rhythm game and are overall very fluid.

Alongside all these modes we find the classic ones ranging from the single match to that in pairs or match with a team of three; this mode called Street Power Match, allows the player to perform goals, tricks and use power-ups. The use of power-ups makes the matches played uncertain until the last moment, sometimes they are not well balanced. It is noted that the developer has chosen to sacrifice part of the gameplay in favor of visual spectacularity, with the inclusion of these power-ups. Last but not least we find the mode elimination. This mode, available only for the online mode, takes you to challenge a friend and following each goal, it subtracts a player from the opposing team.

The contents are not enough

At the content level Street power football it is an overall satisfactory title, unfortunately we cannot say the same thing for the general quality of the product. The gameplay of Street Power Football is fun if taken in small doses, but already after half an hour of play you begin to perceive an excessive background repetition. In Panna mode the offensive and defensive phase albeit managed by gods QTE it is unconvincing; while during normal matches: shots and passes are not convincing at all, resulting too inaccurate.

Street power football it is proposed to the player as a game accessible to all, unfortunately the game controls are woody and often difficult to interpret. This intricacy manifests itself when the player tries to achieve dribbling and tricks, soon losing interest in the latter and thus favoring banal counter-attacks with an empty net. Most of these defects manifest themselves in game sessions against the CPU, while online matches are slightly more balanced.

Street Power Football - Review

Street power football played on PlayStation 4 Pro it turned out to be fairly solid, although in rare cases there were some small drops in frames. Graphically the title of SFL Interactive it is enough, presenting simple polygonal models; good variety of game environments, despite the attention to detail is not the best. The sound samples are very varied and catchy, thanks to the presence of an engaging track list.

Unfortunately, these outline elements are not enough to convince us on the overall quality of the title. The mode Become King in the review phase it is undermined by minor bugs, which make you jump in certain cutscenes. To complement this, we find a qualitatively low translation, with the presence of typing errors and meaningless sentences.

Street Power Football - Review

The overall offer of Street Power Football is not enough to appreciate the title, thus resulting in a total disappointment. The title is fun in the short term, but in the long run it is boring for its too much repetitiveness. The title aims to be accessible to a large audience, but as a whole it is chaotic and confusing. The game controls are not always smooth and precise, making the overall gaming experience tedious and frustrating. To complete the picture we think the disproportionate selling price, equal to € 49,99. Surely the title from here on can improve, but that depends on the developers. Drastically resizing the price and making technical improvements by fixing the various bugs, can allow the title to have a second chance.
