August brings breath of fresh air also for the fauna of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is renewed by seeing new additions in the world of insects. Many creatures, however, will leave our islands at the end of the month. Here is a practical guide to not miss anything and complete your collection on Nintendo Switch!
Northern hemisphere
Here are the new additions with capture location, times and selling price at Nook's shop:
- Locust: on the ground, from 8 to 19, it can be sold for 160 stars.
- Migratory locust: on the ground, from 8 to 19, it can be sold for 600 stars.
- Spitting cicada: on the trees, from 8 to 17, it can be sold for 400 stars.
Much thicker, however, is the list of insects that will no longer be available starting from September:
- Graphium sarpedon: in flight, from 4 to 19, it can be sold for 300 stars.
- Purple emperor butterfly: in flight, from 4 to 19, it can be sold for 3000 stars.
- Brown cicada: on the trees, from 8 to 17, it can be sold for 250 stars.
- Robust cicada: on trees, from 8 to 17, it can be sold for 300 stars.
- Giant cicada: on the trees, from 8 to 17, it can be sold for 500 stars.
- Night cicada: on trees, from 4 to 8 and from 16 to 19, it can be sold for 550 stars.
- Cicada exuvia: on trees, all day, can be sold for 10 stars.
- Stigmodera: on the stumps of cut trees, all day, can be sold for 2400 bells.
- Schoenherr beetle: on the palms, all day long, it can be sold for 800 stars.
- Chrysina resplendens: on trees, from 23pm to 8am, it can be sold for 10000 bells.
- Golden Cetonia: on trees, all day, can be sold for 200 stars.
- Deer beetle: on trees, all day long, can be sold for 2000 bells.
- Lucanid beetle: on trees, all day long, can be sold for 1000 bells.
- Giant beetle: on trees, from 23pm to 8am, it can be sold for 10000 bells.
- Cyclommatus beetle: on the palms, from 17 to 8, it can be sold for 8000 stars.
- Golden beetle: on the palms, from 17 to 8, it can be sold for 12000 stars.
- Giraffe beetle: on the palms, from 17 to 8, it can be sold for 12000 stars.
- Kabutomushi beetle: on the palms, from 17 to 8, it can be sold for 1350 stars.
- Atlas beetle: on the palms, from 17 to 8, it can be sold for 8000 stars.
- Elephant beetle: on the palms, from 17 to 8, it can be sold for 8000 stars.
- Hercules beetle: on the palms, from 17 to 8, it can be sold for 12000 stars.
Southern hemisphere
Much less news in the Southern Hemisphere of Animal Crossing New Horizons during August, where the only new bug is the Cicindela, which can be found on the ground all day and sold for 1500 bells. By the end of August, however, it will be necessary to capture:
- Raja Brooke butterfly: in flight, from 8 to 17, it can be sold for 2500 bells.
- Zygoptera: in flight, all day, can be sold for 500 bells.
- Dung beetle: by moving snowballs on the ground, all day, it can be sold for 3000 bells.
