Dark Souls - Boss Guide: Pinwheel

Dark Souls - Boss Guide: Pinwheel

Our Dark Souls adventure continues, and today we're going to talk to you about a very special boss. You will find this necromancer just before the Tomb of the Giants (where Nito, the Tomb King is), which you can only access after defeating him. His name is Pinwheel and has the appearance of a monk with three masks (that of "the father", "the mother" and "the son"). Small spoiler: once defeated, he will give you one, and each of the three has a different effect, which can be useful to you based on the type of character you are using and therefore the characteristics that suit him best. No more chatter: let's start with the strategy immediately!

    Strategy and useful tips:

Let's start immediately by telling you that, if unfortunately you need help, you can count on the powerful Paladin Leeroy, whose sign of evocation is found at the broken bridge, on a platform that can be reached by throwing yourself down. This apparently formidable enemy is actually very simple to deal with. Remember that he is able to perform pyromancy and to create copies of himself. Understanding who the original is is very simple, as it has a slightly different moveset (it occasionally has a purple aura around it, when it is about to duplicate itself, and is also able to perform the "jet of flames") and also when hooked a clone has the minibar of life, which the original lacks. Are you scared? Well, know that the difficulty ends here: Pinwheel is very slow, although capable of teleporting, has very little life and is very vulnerable to fire. In case Leeroy is with you, know that he is capable of eliminating all the clones in one go, with the special attack of his weapon, as well as causing massive damage to the original. In case you haven't summoned him, rest assured - the clones will disappear after just one hit from you. Once you've found the original or wiped out all the clones, hit it off with your sword (or pyromancy) and the boss will be dead in no time.

    Attacks:

    • Fireball: Turning it will charge a fireball and throw it at you; it is not an overly damaging blow and is really easy to dodge; when he has created the clones, dodging will be more difficult, but still fully feasible
    • Duplication: the boss will split, creating a clone, capable of shooting fireballs in turn, but not duplicating himself; you will notice when it is about to duplicate itself because it will have a purple aura around it
    • Jet of flames: Pinwheel will begin to spit flames in a continuous jet, relatively harmful but with a not very large radius have a very large radius; this attack, exclusive to the original, will make it stay still during the execution, giving you an excellent window in which to attach it comfortably

    Drop:

    • 15.000 anime
    • a Humanity
    • a Bone of Return
    • A mask among those of the father, mother and son
    • Rite of the Ignition (the possibility of reviving the bonfires: sacrificing humanity with them, once you become human again, if you are not already human, you can get up to 20 Estus)

Dark Souls - Boss Guide: Pinwheel

Girandola is one of the most particular bosses of the whole saga conceived by Miyazaki and FromSoftware, also due to the particular "weakness" that distinguishes it. In fact, he is considered (from our point of view) the weakest of all the Dark Souls bosses due, above all, to a very low amount of life points, which provides him with a very limited resistance to hits. However, Pinwheel remains a very fascinating creature: you can think of him as the "lord of necromancers", the one who dared to challenge himself Nito, the lord of the dead, taking away some of his power. The creature can create copies of itself and teleport itself around the area of the encounter and ultimately guards, needless to say, theArt of Ignition, which the player will own exactly after completing his boss fight. Fascinating and disturbing at the same time is also the double or, better said, triple nature of being itself: Girandola is the fusion of three separate individuals, the Mother, the Father and the Son, whose masks - with different bonuses attached to the player - can be recovered randomly after the battle. Although little is known about its genesis, Pinwheel perfectly represents the sick and dark nature of Dark Souls. A real tribute to the culture behind the title.
