The news was in the air: the 2021 edition of E3, a videogame festival of global importance, will be online only and will see important absences.
E3 2021 will return back in online format next June and will be supported by Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two, Warner Bros and Koch Media, among others. However, as often happens in similar cases, the absence of videogaming giants cannot fail to be noticed such as Sony PlayStation and EA, Activision Blizzard, Sega, Bandai Namco and Square Enix. In any case, the training remains respectable and the two platforms in the exhibition will certainly take the stage.
This year's show will be online only and the event will run from 12-15 June, but beyond that very few details are available (except that registrations are still open!).
For more than two decades, E3 has been the premier venue for showcasing the best the gaming industry has to offer, uniting the world through gaming. We are transforming this year's E3 into a more inclusive event, but we will still try to excite fans with important revelations and privileged opportunities that make this event the indispensable center stage for video games.
After the cancellation of the previous edition due to a pandemic, many were predicting an online scenario for E3 2021. On the other hand, it has been a busy 12 months for the business of events (not only on games - ed), and perhaps also in because of this a longtime supporter like Sony is preparing for its second consecutive forfeit. Certainly something is moving behind the scenes, and even if the Japanese giant is still an integral part of the consortium (ESA) that actually manages the event, we do not know where this prolonged abstention from those scenes could lead.
One thing is practically certain: we will be there, even if virtually, and no details will escape you. We remember that for years the juiciest reveal have always peeped out on that stage, and we are waiting for nothing else.
